Day dreaming a little.  I am 46 and a year out from a bad divorce and thinking of finally doing something for me.  I have found Corvettes that are a few years old, 7-8 year old Porsche, newer Supra, Maserati few years old, and some slightly used BMWs.  What suggestions does the collective wisdom of GD have?

Maserati? I love how their V8 sounds. Not sure on reliability. One day I'd like to get an Aston Martin.

You could always get an M car or something like an RS Audi too.

A coworker of mine just snagged a couple year old Vette for around $50k. He loves it.

I like the vette because it’s easy to source parts and are great to drive.

The Supra is very fun to drive but fuck it’s small, like way to small and I’m not a big guy

Maserati:  Fiat/Stellantis reliability with Ferrari part prices. What could go wrong?

They do sound good when they're not in the shop waiting for parts.

If you can FIND one for $50k or less... hell yeah.

For something more recent, a Cayman S with the 6 speed would be fun.... or any 997.

I went with this
Attachment Attached File

It was more than your budget new but careful shopping might net you one within your budget?

I was a Porsche guy before having owned a 1969 911, 1984 944 and a 1997 Boxster and while I still like the 911, Cayman and Boxster still they just didn’t seem special enough to me. You see them on a regular basis and while I love the Porsche specials like the GTS, GT3, GT3RS etc they aren’t in my budget.

The Alfa to me checked all the boxes. Light weight, carbon fiber tub, turbo motor etc and still felt special to me as they only brought in 1500 in combined coupes and spiders into North America.

It’s raw, uncomfortable, loud, impracticable etc but it’s a car I drive when I want and because I want to drive it.
