And before anyone says I'm a pussy, I rode my HD for years and now I have a bad disc in my back so I still want to ride and don't want to get crippled.

The general consensus here in GD is that they are gay and anyone who rides one is gay and if you even like them you are gay.

I told my daughter I was going to buy one, she laughed, hesitated and said they were kind of dorky.

They are cool I think, butt he gas mileage is abysmal....to the tune of 25mpg. If you want one for fun, go for it....if you want one in leu of a motorcycle to save gas...look elsewhere. The can am spyder forum would be a better place to start your search for information

So no one makes fun of the guys who can no longer ride their Harley every day so they get a 3 wheeler but the single wheel is in the front.

I know a guy who has one, and he really likes it. He is, as mentioned by another poster, disappointed in hte mileage. His previous ride was a BMW R1150RT (or maybe GS) which would regularly deliver 35-40. He rides the shit out of his Spyder.

How is this going to be better for your back? I ride BMW's and Harleys with a fusion of my L4 and L5, what am I missing on the CanAm that would make it better? FWIW I see more and more of these things running around, I think they're pretty cool myself.

I have a friend that has one because of leg problems and he enjoys being able to keep riding. He let me take it for a spin, and I was kind of disappointed at the lack of power compared to my Suziki Intruder 1500, but other than that, it wasn't bad.

If it keeps the wind in your face, then go for it.

I wanted one, but they are slow and the gas mileage sucks.

The suspension for one thing, the movement of my foot tilting up & down aggravates my back, the Can Am is auto i believe.

I would love to have one with scabbards for my rifle and shotgun and dump my Glock and ammo in the storage compartment. PERFECT for 3-gun, forget about hauling an ATV or wagon around for moving gear between stages. It's not gay because I'm a girl

Oh I'm there but to me and most others it looks like a motorcycle with training wheels. I can understand somebody with a disability riding one. Otherwise go the extra mile and add streamers to the handle bars and a Hello Kitty basket up front.

I forget a lot of guys here wear Crocs too so carry on.

Didn't run it that hard, but it was very sluggish compared to my 1500.

I think they're sorta cool but when I found out they're not as fast as I thought they'd be, I was disappointed.

I don't believe people should be able to take the riding portion of the motorcycle license test on one though.

We have a dealer in my town, we also have a nice large Honda motorcycle dealership that keeps getting almost new very low mileage Can Am trade ins. I don't know the story for sure, but it looks like there has been a lot of buyers remorse in the few months after people buy one.

They look interesting, and I like the concept of the 2 wheels in front for better stability compared to the other trike conversions than have the 2 wheels in the back, this may be a concept (2 in front) that has a future, time will tell.

I was imaging the other trike, I believe a t-rex when you said you had back problems. Get a Harley with a sidecar? Traditional trike? It does look gay. Sorry, just my opinion.

Can Am Spyder: terrible MPGs, terrible handling, rediculously expensive, everyone thinks your either gay or 75 yrs old when you ride one. Whats not to like?

I'd ride one. I just can't understand why many have the opinion that they look gay, IMO they don't and why does it even matter. The snowmobiles they make are very comfortable and it appears the Spyder has the same ergonomics. Loud HD's sound great but they are annoying to ride. Sometimes the only thing a person needs to be worried about is what they enjoy and not how it appears to others.

I'd like to use one for components to build a 3 wheeler you sit down in . I'd configure it like the Sub G1 and lose the traction control .

One thing to consider, Jrzy.

A friend pointed out to me that on a two-wheeler, if you see a big rock in the road, you just swerve around it. On a four wheeler, you can just straddle it.

But on a three wheeler, it is not easy to swerve and if you straddle it, the rear wheel will hit it.

He said that is why Japanese companies do not like to build them.

Just offered for consideration.

You can always buy a HD or goldwing (plus a few others) and then convert it to a trike.. Check out California Side Cars, they sell the conversions.. I have seen them up close and they are very cool looking..

WOW......how do you make it get that bad of MPG! It looks like a handling nightmare. I think their angle is to appeal to guys that are intimidated by 2 wheels, reminds me of the 80's and atvs.

Agreed. However, some dude that you have been having an altercation with on the road comes up to your window in an aggressive manner while making verbal threats about physical harm seems to be the ingredients for a defensive shooting gone right. Add in a few witnesses saying that the shooter was trying to evade the aggressor (rolling up his window or attempting to leave the area) and a panicked phone call to the police from the shooter about some dude road raging on him and you have the beginnings of a defense case. Then again with the outcomes of defensive shooting being a bit of a crap shoot, I prefer to smile and roll up my window as I drive away from angry people on the roadways. Plus, I think the smile makes them angrier.

Can-am makes great products. If it works for your needs get it.

I got one of their side by sides and love it.
