[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Can the Sig P320 be made safe? (Page 2 of 2)

Quoted: There is an aftermarket trigger with a trigger safety I think. But that's assuming that will make it safe.. but assumption It wouldn't fix it. The models with thumb safeties are having issues, too. The safety on the M18/M17 locks the trigger, not the sear. |

Quoted: Could you do that with an X-Ten? Quoted: Quoted: OP, you can keep your barrel, frame, magazines, and FCU chassis. You're gonna need a P250 slide and the P250 FCU to put in your FCU chassis. You now have a modular DAO pistol that can shoot anything from .22 LR to .45 ACP. Could you do that with an X-Ten? I don't think SIG ever made the 250 in 10x25mm Norma, but apparently the barrels are the same. It should fit. Dunno if it'll run, work well, or be safe, but SIGs are really good at going bang. |

Quoted: I shoot at my moms, and she hasn't banned the P320 yet but there are discussions... Quoted: Quoted: I was going to say to just make it a range toy but ranges have already started to ban them I shoot at my moms, and she hasn't banned the P320 yet but there are discussions... You should call SIG so they can give her the truth about the P320.

Quoted: P320 is fine. Youtube now consists of videos trying to make it fire errantly. Gunboards are rife with people who just jumped on the bandwagon to fit in. Where are the lawyers? When Sig is getting the shit sued out of them, I'll pay attention. Until then, its just a smear campaign. Pretty sure you’re not paying attention or in denial. |

Quoted: Tell me what’s wrong with it that can be fixed. I’ll wait. I suspect the issue isn’t with he pistol but with the idiots using it. There isn’t magic involved. If it were mechanical, the root cause would’ve been found by now. We’ll see. Mechanically stupid design that would work ok if manufactured to a high quality and Gun NOT manufactured to a high quality level. I am a complete schmuck and my guess here and 10 dollars will get you half a cup of coffee at starbucks. |

Quoted: Sig has lost two cases at trial, one with an 11 million dollar verdict and the other a 2.3 million dollar verdict Quoted: Quoted: P320 is fine. When Sig is getting the shit sued out of them, I'll pay attention. Until then, it's just a smear campaign. Are they on appeal…I found the one for 11 million. It was a guy who put the 320 in a holster designed for another gun model, put the holstered pistol in a pocket of jogging pants, and was using stairs when it went off? Found the other….Last June, a jury in Georgia awarded Robert Lang $2.35 million in damages after he suffered a serious gunshot wound to his thigh in 2018 while removing the gun from its holster. The payout marked the first time the firearms manufacturer, based in Newington, had been found negligent by a jury for a P320 unintentionally discharging. The case centered on the pistol’s lack of an external safety — described as a "tabbed" trigger in court documents — and whether the company adequately discloses the risk of unintentional discharges the gun allegedly poses. In Lang’s case, the judge wrote that “the parties agree that something caused the trigger to pull; however, they dispute what caused the trigger to pull.” From an other news report… In this case, the plaintiff, Mr. Lang, initially admitted to the police that he accidentally discharged his gun while pulling it out of the holster, then later changed his story, stating that the firearm discharged without a trigger pull,” the statement reads. However, the Plaintiff’s story notably changed again, after hiring trial experts who agreed that the SIG Sauer P320 could not discharge without the trigger being pulled. Plaintiff and both his experts testified, however, that they do not know what pulled the trigger or how the trigger was pulled, and they did not attempt to conduct any testing to confirm how the trigger could have been pulled, other than by Mr. Lang’s own finger.” |

Quoted: There's a problem with the SIG P320 but I can't put my finger on it! Quoted: Quoted: Only Sig knows and according to them there isn't a problem. There's a problem with the SIG P320 but I can't put my finger on it! I'm starting to suspect sig has no idea and they don't want to know. |

There's a problem with the SIG P320 but I can't put my finger on it! I'm starting to suspect sig has no idea and they don't want to know. I'm starting to fall into that same camp - they also don't know why it's occurring, and the engineer who designed it is either repeating that it's the perfect system, or he's retired and not returning their calls. If they knew what the issue was, they'd pull another voluntary upgrade, b/c they can't survive another dead serviceman or a police officer. The P365 was the hottest thing since sliced bread, and people are backing off from carrying those simply b/c it's also a striker-fired gun made by the same company. |

Purely from an capitalistic standpoint, there's millions of these things. I'd be willing to bet there's a bunch of engineers currently working on a fix. If a company can sell a kit for $25-$50, there's a good market there. Especially considering that there's no known serial number range that is affected, I feel like many owners would buy a kit just to be safe. . Idk engineers are smart people. I'd be willing to bet someone make a kit soon. |

We trust Massachusetts juries to make good calls about firearms all of the time? ..or just this once?
