We used to chase deer and similar animals until they tired out so badly that they just laid down. |

If I'm understanding this study correctly.
Chimps have the similar muscles as humans, with more fast twitch fibers. Not alien-mutant super hero muscles. Therefore they're only slightly stronger than humans? I would think there'd be other contributions to their strength, like muscle mass. Or maybe they are able to recruit higher % of muscle fibers for tasks, which weightlifters get more efficient at over time. They also have better leverages I assume. |

It's those teeth that do all the damage. We don't try and eat our opponents.

Did chimps stop pulling body parts off of people? If not, I guess they are as superhumanly strong as I thought they were.

I knew I guy who had a wolf. A black panther and a chimp. He always said he would take on the cat and dog all day long over the chimp. Dude was almost 400lbs of muscle. He said the monkey is scary strong and scared the shit out of him.

Quoted: https://www.newscientist.com/article/2138714-chimps-are-not-as-superhumanly-strong-as-we-thought-they-were/ So why, on a pound-for-pound basis, are chimps slightly stronger than humans? The team went on to look at the muscle of chimps that had died of natural causes, which revealed that two-thirds of their muscle consists of fast-twitch fibres, whereas more than half of human fibres are slow-twitch. Fast-twitch fibres are more powerful, but use more energy and become fatigued faster. But I don't think there is a human out there that can match them for pure give no fucks violence. |

Chimps are interesting critters. But never take them for granted, or turn your back on them. |
