Second pill on board just now.

2 hours to go before drinking the half gallon miralax mix.

Brand new package if baby wipes.

Brand new padded toilet seat.

Full charge on phone and kindle reader.

Couple quarts of my preferred non red or purple colored drink ready to go.

Surprised that the doc didn't use that Rx MoviPrep stuff I had to gag down last time. Not complaining though.

Did otc laxative makers make some kind of atomic colon blow break through in the past few years or something?

Or was the Rx stuff the same all along?

Good for you for getting an early appt. Mine was in the afternoon, I was STARVING by then and had screaming caffeine withdraw.

Had my first four years ago. Had to drink a gallon of the most awful stuff. Prep sucked but the procedure was cake. Another scheduled for next week. This time, different stuff and not nearly as much, only a few pints. I guess a lot of folks complained about the old stuff.

I thought my prep was not working. Took the pills, drank the calcium citrate and miralax on schedule. Nothing happened... till 11pm.

Oh damn.

Thank goodness I installed the bidet.

Procedure is nothing... that prep though... omg.

I have one coming up. I have a garden hose right outside my bathroom door. I plan to just rinse instead of wiping. I assume this will cut down on the raw butt.

The question I have is, what should I watch while waiting for the pregame to finish?

I've got Netflix and Amazon prime as my main movie channels.

Funny movies are contra indicated for the sake of the furniture.

I did the OTC prep like the OP. It was actually not that big a deal. And the procedure? A propofol drip, and nite, nite. Woke up, all done, see you in 10 years. I was really expecting a pain in the ass...

ETA: The baby wipes, do it. I had absolutely no discomfort at all.

I had one about a year ago, I was warned the prep was horrible and they weren't kidding, I was worried I wouldn't quit before my ride was due to show up, but it worked out OK. The procedure itself is nothing, went to outpatient surgery, checked in, you go to sleep and wake up, its over, no biggie.

Have had many, I usually start by cutting way back on what I'm eating 24 hours prior to, go to liquids, soup ect makes the entire prep a lot easier to deal with. I always chuckle at the people who are like "OMG I can't eat for _____ hrs tomorrow so I'm going to have a steak, baked potato, salad, etc". You do realize that's all got to come out of your system. Butt

I had one and they put me under with Propofol.

I awoke afterwards and asked the Doctor, "Did you find the diamond?".

She said no. I told here I swallowed a giant diamond when I was a kid and it was never found.

She said it was probably gone now. I told her to go back in until she found it.

I don't remember any of the conversation. My wife said I was hilarious.

And I made up the story. I never swallowed a diamond.

I had my annual checkup last week and was dreading the expected colonoscopy referral (it's been a while: I dislike the roto-rootering intensely).

We had the conversation and apparently there's a new option? I have yet to get the kit, but it's a shit-scooping/mailing with some kind of DNA testing of the sample.

Also didn't get the glove/lubricant/prostate test.

I want to think the guy is on top of things and that older methods have been deprecated and replaced by better ones.

Like said above, the prep is the worst part.
I watched them inject the sedative into my iv and last thing I remember saying was it tasted like garlic.
Then I came to and some old lady was dressing me.

Had one (my second) in April. Went great, even the prep wasn't as bad as the first time. You do shit a lot but after the first 3 or 4 its primarily just liquid. That's why it's REAL important to drink lots of fluids during the prep. You want fluid flowing out of there or I imagine it would be like the dry heaves out your asshole. Both times I took my last shit (all liquid) just before the procedure. The Dr. told me on the most recent one they can vacuum out anything if during the procedure you have more to eject. I also was not totally under during the latest one. I was out enough I didn't really hear or feel anything and they had me waking up while they finished up. I remember asking the Dr. about it later but I was still coming out of the anesthetic so I can't for sure remember what he told me but it was a normal thing from what I remember. I think it's so you can respond to commands if necessary.

Overall it was not a bad experience.

This. Baby wipes, also a little coconut oil or Vaseline on your o-ring will keep things happy.

I had this done last month. Prior to this I discovered I'm allergic to glycerin which is a component of a lot of lotions and an ingredient in most brand of baby wipes as well as Preparation H.
Seems it only bothers my back door. Going into the colonoscopy I was fine but whatever they used to lube me up had glycerin in it because for three days after, my ass was really pissed off.
