I like the fde better than odg or black. It just blends better than either in normal civilian environments if that's what you're going for.

I just take issue with the name.
It's not dark. It should be called Flat Light Earth. |

Quoted: If ODG was a better color in the forest than FDE then deer and coyotes would be green instead of tan. You'd think they would stand out more than they do against the green, but they really just fade into it. View Quote Kinda this! Also I like fde but my buddy hates it lmao @ban-hater |

I’m indifferent… I mean it looks cool but for me, I’d prefer black or OD.
I live in PA… lots of green… not so much sand. |

Quoted: I’ve never liked Flat Dark Earth as a color on gear but I especially detest it on guns and gun accessories. Maybe it has something to do with living in one of the greenest areas in the country and maybe I’d feel different if I was in Iraq or even Nevada. Maybe they remind me of the once ubiquitous beige Toyota Camrys but damn I hate Gucci tan. I will pass up a great deal on guns and accessories like they would give me aids if it’s FDE. Nobody even seems to be able to agree on what color FDE actually is. One needs look no further than the FN SCAR in its 14 colors of mismatched baby shit tones to see this. What does it look like outside your fucking house? That is what color your gear should be, not what is popular on the internet right now.

Blends in good here in Alaska.
Even in winter it blends in nicely. |

I liked it at one time on plastic pistols, but I'm over it now.

i hate black on guns and silver(usual color for stainless steel revolvers). fde is to me the color that is least attention grabbing and it also doesn't stand out immediately especially on night vision like black guns. if there's an even more neutral color that blends into most environments, then i'd get that. but for now fde seems like it's the least eye catching.
i think light grey or pinkish tan might work(it could be confused for skin if seen from far away) fde to me is a functional color and it makes guns look attractive to me. functionality and effectiveness are inherently attractive features. |

People complaining about FDE items not all being the same color are spectacularly missing the point and/or not thinking very hard or seriously about it. I just can't take people like that seriously.
Ranger green might be better for more areas of the US but FDE isn't all that different. Most OD green products (including Magpul's) are too dark. |

Quoted: Having a firearm in the predominant color of your environment makes sense. If you are in the dry, desert type areas, then FDE might make sense... In the wet parts of the very green Pacific Northwest, either olive drab, ranger green, or some type of green color would make more sense. But other folks are of course, free to have their firearms in whatever color/s they choose...including orange, pink, red white and blue, or any other color/s. After all, it is their firearm. View Quote Lived in Washington (Seattle area) most of my life. A FDE/tan weapon blended in beautifully. Perk to the tan was I could go to Eastern Washington with it and still blend into the environment. FDE all the things. |

I’ve never been a fan of fde on my guns or gear, but I have always lived places with lush green woods. Have always liked ranger green, foliage green, and multicam with a dusting of green spray paint. Classic woodland m81 even worked great. Got my first fde gun, now that I live in the desert. Figure multicam and a fde 19x will blend in fine here. But I really don’t plan on painting or changing all my black rifles to fde. I don’t think the coyotes and mostly peaceful protesters will care about the color of my guns. YMMV ???????

I have a dream that one day we will judge a gun based on the quality of its build and not on the color of its cerakote.

I like the FDE and coyote tan. But I live where the dirt and rocks are similarly colored, and the green vegetation is sparse.

I live in Utah and love it. It's my favorite firearm color.
This entire state is FDE |
