If it's just for sun protection out in the elements look more into fishing hats but some of those look weird wearing if you're not fishing or boating

OP, one of the funniest things I have seen written in a public bathroom was on a toilet seat cover dispenser.

I get the straw hats with a really wide, maybe 4", brim. Swap meet, $5. They breathe good, provide excellent sun protection, are lightweight. I use them a lot, hiking and other outdoor activities, replace about every 4-5 years. The only drawback is in high wind, they are like sails.
In high winds I hike with a baseball-style cap with an extra long brim, and it has a cloth wraparound neck guard that velcros to the cap. Not quite as good sun protection as the big straw hat, but a lot more aerodynamic! |

I went to my local western shop and got a sweet black hat.
Sometimes I take my shirt off and wear it on my mower. The neighborhood wives always smile and wave  I even got a thumbs up by the old lady down the road

What part of the country? Southern Idaho/northern Nevada you want a Buckaroo style hat. In Montana/Wyoming you want a curved cowboy hat. In Texas some kind of gay pride shit.

American Hat company has great cowboy hats built to last and generally not found on the heads of cola cowboys. Ignore the ass hats in here who dont know a dally from thier assholes

The straw cowboy hats do work well. I prefer mine over various other hats. This hat in particular is comfortable in the hot sun of Summer in west Texas. Link
It isn’t a big name brand but it is just as good in quality for considerably savings. |

I’m a HLS&R committeeman and our hat of choice is black felt. Sometimes good. But there’s always a couple days of stupid heat and humidity and you curse the guy who thought that was a good idea. |

I have a Sunbeam straw fedora, and I like it. Different than a regular cowboy hat, wide brim, good sun protection. I like it, about 40 bucks.
