I’m on some of the highest ground in my county south of KC. Lost power for 5 hours, was sanding a cedar beam when it went out. Grabbed the wife and hit the local taco joint because I don’t have a gas cooktop yet, this will happen when we get a propane tank. Neighbor lost a 60’ pine, broke in half bout 25’ up. Nature yo.

I doubt that if it wasn't a tornado.

I clocked 67mph on my cheap little weather station in eastern Iowa about an hour ago.

Lost power for 30 minutes.

NE kansas here. Ran 4 semi rollovers at work today (paramedic) due to wind, power has been off at our house for 6 hrs, trees and power poles down all over. We logged a 84 mph gust on our weather station at home right before power loss.
Lost our chicken coop and a few windows and sheet metal from the shop. Craziest weather Ive seen in Kansas in December.

50-60 mph wind gusts here in the NW burbs of Chicago.

Edit: pretty sure the last few gusts were well over 60mph.

We have some high winds happening right now.  Hoping it tears a bunch of shingles off the roof so I can file an insurance claim

If anything happened here, I slept through it. (Metro area MN)
But I’m sure icy roads are going to make work suck hard.

Some power lines down about 30 minutes from me from what I heard on the news. I still have power. Highest gust in the Chicago area was 74-75 at the water crib out in Lake Michigan.

The rain blowing sideways for about 5 minutes straight last night reminded me of seeing hurricane footage on TV. That was pretty neat to see.

Beforehand, I took a walk in the woods while the wind was blowing. Heard lots of trees snapping. On my way back, there were two dead 6”-8”-wide trees that had fallen onto the trail where I’d been moments earlier.

Drove from Taylor's Falls to Wayzata. Roads were fine this AM.

Woke up and checked on things twice last night/early morning due to the county weather warnings to fuel up, charge all electronic devices and get generators ready.

Average wind speed was 8mph with a 22mph high gust, then 7 with a 29 high gust and now it's 9 with a 22 gust.
Temps dropped from 42* all the way down to 39*

I've been out working already, saw nothing down. No outages.
Had to re-cover my patio water garden because the tarp blew half off.

I barely survived.

Dropped from 45 to 18 here overnight, yesterday's fog caused accidents on the highway. People stopped on the side of the road in the fog to gawk

ETA gusts were bad here, roads are a rink, went from 6 inches cover to none then back to fully white in 12 hours. Bad lightning rolled through starting around 6PM.

Man, you just know the Climate Change Task Force is gonna be all over this.  On top of the physical damage, this is going to cost us billions in taxpayer-funded climate grift.

Best thing I ever did. Shingles are for the birds nowadays and you can take about 1/3 of their life span and toss it away, warranties are, outside the first couple of years, consist of giving the homeowner enough shingles to replace the bad ones.

I'm in southern Wisconsin - only had a few limbs down here, nothing too extreme. I think gusts probably hit about 50mph last night. In anticipation of this shit i made sure everything was secured outside. Not sure how others were impacted in my area.

The humidity earlier in the evening blew my mind. I was out working in my garage and had the door up, and the condensation on the floor looked like it had rained inside. I'm talking literal puddles on the flow.

My brother lives in Colorado Springs and said they had 100mph+ gusts. Multiple overturned semis on his rush home from work to intervene in shit getting ripped off his house. They have hurricane rated wind blocks up on their back deck and it was ripping out of the steel beams it's attached to. Crazy shit.

I can confirm that we had 120mph wind gusts in Central Iowa. What I can't confirm is if it was straight line winds or tornado winds. We were able to read peak wind speed on our turbines and they were roughly 52-54 m/s which equates to about 120mph winds

Too lazy to read the entire thread.  Has the member that was bitching abut school being closed due to the wind, chimed in?

I'm amazed I didn't lose power. I'm pretty far out of town. The wind is just about done. It was howling pretty good from 1AM onward for a few hours.

I imagine tree damage would have been pretty extreme if there were leaves on the trees.

I believe that, it's 58 at the house now and it was quite a bit warmer last night.

Same here, mostly from an old maple that's been shedding rotting limbs for years now. Really need to just cut it down.

I will say, with the wind that blew in behind this storm, I learned that my house is more drafty than I thought.
