Cool thanks.

Dumb question but just to confirm, the ir laser is adjustable for passive aiming?

Don't you people ever work?

It's seasonal.

I started looking at IR illuminators / laser combos and it started to make my head spin a little.

I'm a poor with a low end PVS -14, so imma stick with the TLR-VIR II for now. Does what I need.

Does that have a slaved IR/Vis laser?

No vis laser at all, it's got 3 settings:
White light (300lm)
Off
IR illum and laser

But the laser is good enough out to as far as you can see, and the illumination is good to 50-75ish depending on how good your eyes and nods are.
Mine aren't great so I don't really try to shoot much past 50.

Cool thanks.

If your ir laser is on you're emitting and therefore not passive.

I still need to try out one of those Modlite IR heads. The IR850 supposedly has a 300y IR hotspot.

I'm a big fan of the piggyback RMR for passive aiming.
The EOTech is better for passive (easier to get behind and standard advantages of the reticle), but the ability to cock your head to the side and drop down onto the other optic if white light comes on is a nice option.

A few locals have been doing the whole piggyback option both on ACOGs and LPVOs. They seem to like it but it's not for me.

That and a FP PEQ with a hot button (or similar) would go nicely on my cola rifle with the REIN.

Thing is getting pretty chunky already though

I'm kind of digging the no tape switch for the Peq. Just reaching up and hitting the button seems to work for shorter rails. At FO a I used Modbuttons which are great for longer rails.

Lot of advantages and redundancy.
I find a standard height scope more natural for more precision focused shooting, but the NV height RDS to be better for close/fast; this gives me both on the same rifle.

Plus two sighting systems, one of which with an etched reticle, before even getting to BUIS (though I am leaning back towards having BUIS on my guns): thinking DD fixed irons on the EOTech gun (can't even see them through it with it mounted on the riser), MBUS Pros on the ACOG/RMR rifle, and MBUS pro offsets on the cola rifle.

Then again, that's $300 that could get me another TLR-VIR II.

Good news - the vet has recommended against Mia seeing the neurologist as she has no nervous degradation or whatever words she used. That means no specialist and no need for an MRI.

Mia will get new X-rays of her spine to confirm discospondylitis. Fingers crossed that's all it is and it can be treated with drugs.

There's a glimmer of light.

The last 5 competitions I've done all required you run the course while carrying rifle, pistol, and ammo. 2 Cola, 3 non-Cola.

Or just don't put BUIS on them. How often will you need them? Use money for IR stuff because reasons is the answer.

My $0.02 is to keep them on separate switches or get a TAPS Sync with the laser firing on one and both on another. Sometimes just laser is nice. I find myself running laser only often.
