Sure, let's wait until traction's already broken, then give it tons of gas!

More of a battle about friction and not power

I’m sure it is probably better but. My initial thought is it has a shit load of heavy ass batteries in it and the f150 is empty.

It’s still ugly

Niiiiiice.  Car of the future. Now make all the Tesla cars look 8bit.

Still better looking than an Aztec, a Juke, or those Jeep Cherokees with the long front end. I'd take a Tesla 8bit I've one of those any day.

I bet the F150 weighs about 2000 lbs less than the tesla, so it would be cheaper to get the F150 to Mars..

This is correct.

Electric motors ask "what is a torque curve?"

That said: Tesla thingy is AWD with power available at all 4 wheels, F150 appeared to be in 2wd, probably with an open diff. And the 8 bit truck has a shitload more tire on the ground then the F150. Tesla truck still would have won that battle but it wouldn't have been as dramatic with say a built diesel truck with lockers and similar size tires to the electric truck.

Because I bet you that Tesla weights a good deal more than the Ford. Tug of wars are stupid.

Or pulling a boat 400 miles to the lake in a day.

I like Teslas, I like electrics, pickup trucks will be the very last segment of consumer vehicles to be displaced by them.

Also that truck looks like something I drew in 2nd grade.

Why fight it?
Put F-1fitty in neutral, wait until polygon truck battery dies, (won’t be long towing), start truck & drive away pulling dead weight Tesla when it stops to refuel via the power of coal & steam.
Put a few jerry cans of fuel in the bed of the pickup for extra fuck you range.

Traction control resolution is orders of magnitude better with electric also, not that I think that's at play here.

I pull a camper farther than that even. Obviously I'm spending more than a single day at the lake but it's doubtful this truck can do that on a single charge while under load which would make it utterly useless to me and pretty much anybody who tows with their trucks over distance.

More importantly, you'll be able to you know, get parts for it.

As it will share probably 75% or more of the same parts as a regular, mass produced F150.   You know, mirrors, body panels, trim parts, rims, brakes...

Tesla set the market segment price points.

It will cost approximately the same.  That’s how competition works.

If you try to convert an ICE frame to EV (Like the Mercedes EQC) you generally end up with a very sub-optimal EV.

Thanks for the economics “lesson”. I’m fully aware of how competition works, and “approximately the same” could easily be 5-10k more for an equivalent truck, or a lesser truck for the same price. He didn’t say the same price, he claimed it would cost LESS.

But if an electric F150 comes to market that is equivalent on paper, costs less, and is to the market either before, or within 6 months of the first cybertruck delivered to a customer.

I’ll eat my work boot.

Here's the problem with that.

$40k gets you into the base Tesla with a range of 250 miles.

$40k F-150 gets me into a XLT with a range limited by the number of gas stations along my route.

It would.
But I also bet that my tacoma in 4wd low would pull the ford as it sat in that test too.
Ever watch a pit/support crew hold a drag car in a straight line while it is doing a burnout? 1-2 guys can steer the ass end of a car that is blowing the tires off.
That is kind of what we are looking at here.

ETA: Hopefully Tesla went back to the drawing board on the suspension for the Cybertruck. Because I watched someone try to take a model X offroad and it was awful.

It would have made no difference. They could have put it up against a 4x4 Powerstoke and Tesla still would have won. However you could put the Tesla up against a locomotive and it would lose. Doesn't mean the locomotive is a more practical truck...................

Right!

I think I pulled mine 40 miles each way once.  Once.

I know about 20 people with boats and the farthest any of the pull theirs is about 25 miles.  25 miles in April to drop it into the lake, and 25 miles to pull it and put it in storage in October... unless they just have the guy pick it up for them.  Honestly, that's the way to do it.  No trailer, just have the storage place pick up and deliver right to the lake.  Cheaper than buying and storing a trailer and way less work.
