I love the sound of a round motor as much as the next real american but if money was no object a DC-3 with a couple of PT-6s would be my hunting rig.

When the last C-130 is flown to the boneyard for aluminum recycling, the crew will fly back home on a DC-3.

What's the airframe life of a DC-3?

Nobody knows yet,ask again in 100 years

Seriously, has there ever been a DC-3 type aircraft crash found to be caused by simple fatigue?  (not corrosion, or other damage, just fatigue)
Or, any AD related to airframe fatigue?

AeroE, where are you?

There was a AD for creating access holes to inspect certain areas of the wings for cracks and installation of doublers to prevent wing failure.

Not really sure if there have been accidents due to fatigue.

Thanks.  I was wondering if these things defy fatigue theory in some mysterious way or what.

They are an amazingly durable airframe regardless, but it's kind of comforting to know that somebody has identified weaknesses.
