almart online has the MFD's for $79.99. I bought the 2 Neewer 8" monitors on amazon for $60 each (load up your amazon account for $100 and get $10 off). Bought 2 of the VGA to USB adapters so I dont have to use my actual video card for the outputs. Couple hours with the 3D printer and a little 3M double Sided tape and BOOMSHAKALAKA!!! Friend and I heading to strike an island off the Iranian coast
 Hunted down a Mainstay on the Georgia at war server in my F5E using only RWR and flying almost 200 miles at under 500ft AGL 
next sortie, went out loaded with bombs, did a ground strike, and killed a Mig 21, ran out of fuel 14 miles from a friendly base, wasnt high enough to glide in, belly landed 6 miles out, i had to eject to exit the plane for the picture, i babied that thing to the ground

The 3rd monitor is connected and mapped for the AMPCD display panel now. Also ordered a 1050 Ti video card with 4 display outputs. Expected delivery on Monday. Lowest price I could find now on the MFD's are now currently $90 or more. I am going to have a spare if anyone wants to split the set with me. I can send all materials and box with the 1 mfd. I paid $95 total with shipping if someone wants to split the cost with me. I'll post up more pics of the MFD's and 3 monitor display once I have everything connected. Loving the TrackIT pro! Connects to my headset and seems a lot more consistent than the hat clip. |

been having fun with mav's
the E model ones are easy but the jtac ai chooses stupid targets sometimes in multiplayer. like there will be sams with a bunch of dudes standing around (huge juicy target) but it will laze the t72 instead. the ir mavs you can choose but I have trouble locking shit in time cuz its hard as fuck to see shit until you are almost over it. its easier than the su25 tho |

i think its only in beta. i uninstalled the stable. the beta seems to be more active and they fix problems faster
i know for a fact it works in beta. and so do e/f mavs. i havent used the JHMCS that much. ive enabled it a couple of times but i find it kind of distracting unless you are in a turning fight or have already merged. |

How much $ do you guys have in this stuff? I'd like to get in on this action some day down the road! Hopefully building our new house in a few years, would it be a good idea to plan on a space for this? Or will a VR Helmet and a chair that throws you around be attainable at a reasonable price? Or do I need to wait until my kids are out of the house

HOTAS, rudder pedals, and head tracking in that order are the top three beyond having a suitable PC. So that's maybe $700 for a Warthog, TrackIR, and a set of Saitek pedals. I hated using a swivel chair on wheels, so that was $100 for an automotive seat and $30 in steel to make a frame for it. Of course just putting the stick and throttle on the desktop isn't going to cut it, so $300 for a wheel stand pro. At that point, my monitor was too small, and I may as well pick up a pair of MFDs... It's worse than BRD.

This looks like so much dang fun At the rate things are moving, it’s impossible to say what the VR scene will look like in a few years. I’m personally glad I went that route instead of TrackIR, though. Made building a “simpit” as easy as mounting shelves on an old kitchen chair. Attached File |

As a glider pilot, I built these for my own training, but also to teach my friends and family how to fly. Some people get a pool table... I keep fighter jets in my basement.

BTW, I have been working on mods to the MDF mounts. I have somethings I am printing now to test out. This includes a new way to mount the MFD on the 8"/7" monitors. Also, a way to mount the monitor onto the MFD base using the VESA holes in the back of the monitors. This way, the heavy weighted base of the MFD can be used instead of the lightweight monitor stands. The idea of the mount is a "sleeve" that slides over the monitor bezel, with an inner sleeve that clicks into place and the MFD sits on. It clicks in nice and tight. Still working on the MFD mount part as it is always either too tight or just a little too loose. Im thinking if I extend the inner surfaces that the MFD sits on, that it will be supportive enough to not matter. That said, you can always add a strip of double sided tape to the back of the MDF. 
This new design, I am printing in grey to look a little more like the colors in the cockpit. It is a little to light but does give it a nice finished look. If it looks too bad, I have some carbon fiber vinyl and will just wrap it. The vinyl is nice and comes in a wide variety of colors and not expensive at all. I'll post up more pics in the next few days as the prints are completed. Once I get these to my liking and tested, I'll release the .stl files out to anyone who wants them. Does anyone have the 7" monitors? I need to get some dimensions. Overall height, width and bezel, also thickness of the case. There are variances I am sure, but I can get close and just extend out the back surfaces that sit on the top and sides of the monitor frames. I love this thread. Have gotten some great ideas and projects to play around with in here as well as learned a lot about DCS. |
