I need the wisdom of G.D. to answer if what I saw today would be considered a hate crime in these times.
I was at the largest Asian market in the my area, the place was a Winn Dixie but is now a full supermarket that is nothing but Asian items. If you need it they have it and many things that you can only find there, the owners are Chinese and so is the staff. The place is awesome. The customers are 90% Asian, then you have the white Yuppies like me that fill in the rest. So I was pushing my cart through the parking lot on my way to my ride when and I noticed a jacked up Chevy Brodozer slowly doing a loop around the lot, two younger white kids were in it, the truck came back around and started to drive past the front of the store. As the truck drove past the front doors, the driver started to play the Godzilla sound over a horn/PA system. Everyone in front of the store stopped and was looking at the truck. I have to admit, I laughed my ass off. So, G.D. was this a harmless prank or a hate crime ? |

Tasteless, but I don't see the crime part. Shake your head, and move on.

Hate crime
In the Godzilla movies I've seen the Asians start to run when they hear Godzilla so it could have caused a stampede injuring many fleeing out the emergency exits . |
All the shit going on in this world, the last thing I would give two fucks about is a gorilla sound from a brodozer. No it wasn't a "hate crime".
Might be racist, but don't think that is a crime. My wife is Asian and has zero fucks to give.
Would have been funnier in front of a sushi place, but ya, kinda stupid and stupidity is not a crime.
If you have to ask, the answer is yes.
Please report this at once to your local commissar! It's been a few days since they had an Asian hate headline and a few creative 'journalists' can easily turn this into something newsworthy |
I take it that this was in a more populous area to support an Asian market.
If reported, it'll be a hate crime. Panhandle or bug bend areas, less so, just some boys having fun. |
I’m impressed that two younger bros even know what Godzilla is.

My BIL has down syndrome and is probably the biggest Godzilla fan ever. Godzilla shirts, hats, jackets, birthday cakes, he always has a large godzilla toy in his pocket anywhere he goes. He would have loved that.

White people are fucking retarded. I bet it wasn't even a Japanese mall, just an asian market.

I think only Japs fear Godzilla so the China owners probably thought it was funny.
Making sure a bunch of people know you're a complete idiot with no taste is not a crime.
Silly joke.
BTW, what is the name of the store -- is it part of a national chain, like Mitsuwa, DiHo, Hmart or Seafood City? |
It wasn't that long ago (what, about 30 years) we were arguing that there is no such thing as a hate crime...they are all crimes.

It was inventive and hilarious. We have lost our sense of humor. I miss the days when a group of mixed race friends would just harass the shit out of each other, vicious but funny. Also that same group of friends would be willing to fight an outsider who fucked with any of the others.
When people say MAGA I think of those days. The days of my youth in the 80's and 90's when none of my friends (white , Hispanic or black) gave two shits about race other than who could zing the other with the best stereotype joke. |

What would have been funny would be four large Asians when out and flipped the truck over on it’s side with Rooftop Koreans doing overwatch. |

I think you can have ethnic or culture driven humor without the racist component of actually thinking one race is specifically inferior or superior. Still kinda dickish to do that to random people in a public place. I'm filing this under stupid teenagers.

Depends on which Asians.
Most Asian markets are Chinese, at least around here. I've never seen a Japanese market. I'm sure they're around. Godzilla is a Japanese thing. I think the Brodozers were trying to be cute but don't know their Asian culture very well. |
At least they have you brainwashed enough to wonder if it was an actual crime. This is, in fact, how it will become a crime.
I would have doubled over with laughter, give two thumbs up, then two "OK"s. Asians don't offend easily like hood dwellers.

Wife is Asian.
A few things that come to mind: - She openly admits that asians are the most racist people on the planet - She wouldn't give a shit outside of why those meth heads in a bro truck are making noise in a parking lot because they just look like total retards - She would appreciate that it's Godzilla, and then mention that none of the people at the store are Japanese, so once again, you just look like some dumb shit white trash kids She would also be (just like every Asian in that store) the absolute last people to think or care that this was 'racism'. Leave it up to the one white guy there to worry if something is racist or not. |
