A team of salvage divers has discovered an unexplained object resting at the bottom of the Baltic Sea near Sweden. "This thing turned up. My first reaction was to tell the guys that we have a UFO here on the bottom," said Peter Lindberg, the leader of the amateur treasure hunters. Sonar readings show that the mysterious object is about 60 meters across, or, about the size of a jumbo jet. And it's not alone. Nearby on the sea floor is another, smaller object with a similar shape. Even more fascinating, both objects have "drag marks" behind them on the sea floor, stretching back more than 400 feet. It's round and 60 meters across, so the local tabloid says it must be The Millenium Falcon. http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/video-divers-large-unexplained-object-bottom-baltic-sea-161749619.html |

Quoted: I don't think it'd qualify as a UFO if it's underwater... UUO |

There are some things that are best left alone. This may be one of them.

Quoted: Yes, a UFO is the first thing that comes to anybody's mind. http://h.static.memegenerator.net/cache/instances/500x/13/13419/13742058.jpg It's kind of the gist of the acronym until there's a second thing. |

The correct nomenclature would be USO. Unidentified Submerged Object.
The drag marks are intriguing. |
|
Mark my words, Spain will claim them under maritime salvage laws.

This story first came out in August 2011. I have no idea why it's resurfaced now on many media outlets.

As the mayor said in Jaws, "But, you don't have the tooth..."

Well I'm glad the expert chimed it |

The reporter/narrator has an annoying as shit voice...almost sounds like a computer narration program.

It's a small crater or natural formation. Round shit happens.

Amazing that they raised that 300+ year old ship 50 years ago, almost fully intact.
It'll be cool to see what this pans out to be. |
|
At 60 meters across, it's far wider than any ship that has ever floated. So it's not part of any ship.
Other than that, well, I just want to know what they eventually pull up out of the water. It'll be a hell of a salvage op, if it happens. But my guess if that it's something really important, some government will take over, slap a veil of secrecy over it, and we'll never hear shit about it again. CJ |

CJ I figure there's too much press about it already. The only thing I CAN see happen would be governments saying 'you can't touch it, we don't know what it is!' and not let them raise it. I'm sure it won't be a UFO but it could be quite interesting either way. Maybe a building from many years ago when that area didn't have a sea? :) |

Did they say at what depth it was at? I guess it could be a odd rock formation on the bottom too?

Leviathan??? Sunken Russian sub??? Gate to Hell? or the Mother Ship that ferried Barack Hussein Obama to this planet? Millenium Falcon'esque, makes perfect sense as Michelle = Wookie? |

They originally had no plans to return to the spot, but the spike in interest from the public has led them to begin planning a return trip.

"Unexplained object" really pins it right down, doesn't it?
Lots of words, but no information there. |
