Yes, you need one. I have an M2 Tactical Entry 14" SBS and a VEPR 12. Semi auto is lots of fun. Why do you need one? For trench warfare of course.

It has never stuttered, except that one time I added the Nordic tube and left the spring too long and it coiled into itself fully compressed. Shotgun is handy for a multi-purpose role, from dangerous game and methheads, to birds, bunnies, and bucks. It's one of the few "do it all" platforms really. A good semi auto, like a 1301 is a joy to shoot too.
So, look at it like a multitool. It also travels better from a state law angle too. |

Yes. Either of those options are great choices. The 1301 is my choice. Lighter, faster cycle rate, and soft shooting. If I were going to war I’d probably take the BM4 but outside of that the 1301 is my go to. I own two a Gen 1 and Gen 2, never had a single malfunction out of either of them and the Gen 1 has over 10K shells through it. I have an LTT 1301T on order that will be my new primary scatter gun.

A semi-auto shotgun is kind of necessity if you want to be competitive in 3-gun. Recoil operated are hypothetical less maintenance and more reliable, but I doubt guys with 1301s or m4s are having many, if any, malfunctions. It usually tends to be the same shotgun that chokes every round, probably because the guy's never cleaned it.
ETA - I was really surprised the first time I shot a slug, at 75 yards.. They're actually kind of accurate. |

Couldn't find a 1301 less than $1100, so I got an m3k, and all the accessories for 3 gun, for less than $700. It gets the job done. I was afraid it would hiccup on lighter loads, but I haven't had any failures yet. |

It was definitely doable, but not as flashy, and not as fast as everyone else. I think the heavy class requires a 12g pump

I'd say have a shotgun of some type but wouldn't say it HAD to be tactical or even semi-auto for that matter.
Much more likely to use it for hunting birds and such as opposed to methbillies and EOTW scenarios, let alone operating operationally with it |

I really like my benelli m2, and super sport, and have berettas too.
You can do literally anything with them. I would get a good autoloader and go start shooting some clays . Get out in the duck blind. Go deer or turkey hunting with it . I had a benelli m4, about 10 years ago and the aftermarket wasn’t there for it at the time. They don’t do anything for me. A beretta gas gun will shoot a bit softer, but I’ve never cleaned my super sport or m2. Ever. |

I'm not a big shotgun guy, but running drills on multiple steel targets with a semi-auto tactical shotgun is a lot of fun and directly applicable to HD.
I have 3 Benelli M2s, but that Beretta 1301 Tactical does look pretty nice. |

I bought a 1301 and LOVED it it’s such a badass shotgun ….. then I wanted to get some money up for NV and I thought to myself hmmmm which one of my guns can I get a good bit of money for and is also kinda useless …. I sold it lol
Seriously there is something about the idea of a semi auto tactical shotgun that is just so damn cool that you battle with your own common sense for reasons to buy one My shotgun uses mainly consists of busting clays with my O/U |

I'm seeing a 1301 Pro Comp in my near future. Well, just because. Just fondled a regular Comp and it was too short. (LOP) I know it's designed for use in battle rattle but I prefer my thumb not touching my nose when I shoot.
