Serious question...if a man becomes a woman, does he start having periods? If a woman becomes a man, does she keep having her periods? No. The "change" is purely cosmetic. They do not get or develop functional female reproductive organs. I begg to differ http://media.giphy.com/media/38tjCITcNUmWc/giphy.gif You would be wrong. And, that's where mental illness lives--ion the brain. |

They can have all the makeup and surgery in the world but they can't change DNA. Its still a fuckin man View Quote Nonsense. Now, what would be required for someone to actually change sex would be the replacement of an entire chromosome. There are some people though that are born both male and female (XXY). It's exceedingly rare, but it does happen. Many of them, you wouldn't know from looking at them, even in a detailed physical exam. |

Can't be a serious question. Surely OP knows basic biology. Welcome to GD. It's up there with the "can you make hamburger from ground beef?" question. This is where we ask dumb questions! |

Yes they can.
A man who becomes a woman will begin having a monthly period but it will be poop, not blood. A woman becoming a man will continue to have a period but cum will come out. |

AS for unusual genetic abnormalities: First of all, they are recognized as an abnormality. They are not considered normal or a variant or normal. They are recognized and evaluated on concrete and demonstrable genetic defects. Secondly, these individuals are not the subject of this particular debate. This debate centers around those who are physically, genetically, and phenotypically one gender and think themselves another without any objective evidence of the same. |

I guess a device can be installed up the split penile cavity that flows the average flow rate of blood during a period. Sounds like a real money maker, maybe someone here will patent the design |

FFS. Don't they teach this stuff in the 5th or 6th grade? Testicles, ovaries, that kind of stuff?

Ok, so next question... Can you determine from a blood test the sex of a person? Without knowing anything else about the person that the blood came from? And if so, do "transgender" people continue to exhibit those sex traits in their blood? Or do the hormones that they take cover up those results? View Quote Yes, Karyotyping will tell if it is X.Y. or X.X. chromosome. The elevated sex hormones from HRT will also be detectable, but it won't change the underlying chromosomes. |

I hope you're not married to a woman and I really hope you don't have any daughters if you don't understand how THOSE mechanics work.

Cutting a mans penis off doesn't make them female, they will still always be a male.

But if a genetic woman is on masculine (testosterone based) hormone therapy, yes her periods will stop.

It's just biologically correct guy privilege, that's what it is. Lissen' OP, after your operation, if you identify with having a period, you just go right ahead and be OTR. It's your right! |

Trans people ARE periods. A hot mess that nobody should be talking about.

No, the doctor just cuts off the end of the dick and basically shoves it back up inside. They don't stick ovaries in there
