The best steamed oysters I've ever had were at our men's Bible class annual oyster roast. It was held at the local Coca-Cola plant, where they'd disconnect the boiler used for steam cleaning the bottles and connect it to a home made a pipe manifold to. A large hole had been made in the sides of galvanized garbage cans and an expanded metal rack placed in the bottom. The cans were placed on the manifold, partially filled with oysters, and then blasted with superheated steam. They were done in only a couple of minutes. We ate on wooden pallets placed atop of Coke syrup barrels.

I love them in coastal areas. Kind of scared to eat them in Arkansas.

In Argentina, we had bull's balls, brought to the table on a charcoal chafing dish, along with other sweetbreads. The Argentines swore we threw away the best parts of the cow (or bull, in this case).

Having eaten some weird stuff in other countries, I'd totally try them.

Especially the versions of some of the pics posted.

If you are ever in DC, I'll find you some good fucking oysters.

Oysters out of the Chesapeake are the best in the world.

Drago’s all the way!  Acme ain’t bad, though it seems like every other restaurant uses the same or very similar recipe.

I will eat them grilled year round but most places want $30 for a dozen oysters. Wtf? In the winter I will eat them raw on a cracker with hot sauce because a local place has $1 oysters at happy hour.

Good stuff. Only thing I don't like is around here it's hard to find them for cheap. Usually $25 for 6 or something like that at a restaurant.

The irony is everyone in the area claims to love Chincoteague oysters but the truth is they don't grow nearly enough to support the demand so they take locally caught oysters and dump them in their beds for a couple of tides and viola, you have the genuine thing.
