No fucking clue. I too remember my first concert (ZZ Top.....or was it AC/DC), but I think my first CD was Metallica black album....I could be wrong though.

I never adapted to new tech really fast though, sure I got there but I took my time.

A Sounds of the 70s compilation CD in the bargain bin at Wal Mart in 1995. My first CD player was a CD ROM drive in a new computer, and I wanted to test it. Was actually a good collection of songs, several of which were classics but that I hadn’t heard before at the time. I was just getting into 70s music.

We just got a brand new stereo system, Yamaha amp, Yamaha CD player, Yamaha turntable and Klipsch KG4 speakers and when I put the CD in and played for the first time, I damn near cried....Walk of Life and Why Worry was like you were in the studio

I dropped some coin on a bunch of Denon equipment and RS2 speakers and couldn't believe the sound quality of CDs
especially newly recorded albums. The CD collection accumulated very quickly. Waiting for Columbus was definitely
in the top 10 first albums. Someone mentioned their first 45, holy shit. I remember Gloria/Baby please don't go" by
"Them". I'm fucking old.

I was living in Japan at the time and went shopping down town at the massive multi-story Yamaha music store.

I still have the Hitachi front loading hinged mechanism. The circuit cards plug-into the mother board. There are discrete components.

Cd probably ac/dc highway to hell. Since I had sizable record collection, I came late to starting a cd catalog. So really just bought it because I wanted to hear the difference between cd and record.
1st cassette was def leppard high n dry
1st record I bought was beach boys endless summer.
1 record my parents bought me was k-tel looney tunes

It was either Jackson Browne Late for the Sky (remastered), or For Everyman ( remastered).
I avoided CDs for a long time because of sound quality and I had a large vinyl collection and a great turntable

I remember the CD player. A Yamaha single player that had good reviews. (how did we learn about this stuff pre-internet?). I am pretty sure a Scorpions and Van Halen CD were my first two. Oh yeah and a Telarc disc of the 1812 overture so I could damage my speakers with digital cannons down to 9 Hz or something. I think I joined the Columbia or BMG CD club to quick start my collection.

U2 - Achtung Baby

They were wrapped together as a gift on Christmas 1991. I was heartbroken until I opened the next present, which was a Sharp CD boombox I could play them on. They have stood the test of time and I still have them today. They shaped my musical interests for the rest of my life. F'n fantastic albums the both of them.
