Whatever it was, it was when CDs were worth buying though!   Starting to get back to that.   Every time my wife and I managed to save $1000 in cash back in the day, we'd go by a 13M CD at the local bank.

I am not 100% sure, but I believe it was Pink Floyd Dark side of the moon.
I have pretty much 100% of every CD I picked up and I do remember feeding them one by one into Music match
to convert my tune collection.

BMG/Columbia House in much later years got some "bulk" orders to fill out my collection.

Spin Doctors-Pockets full of Kryptonite.
Didn’t even have a cd player yet but knew I was getting one in a couple months at Christmas.

Dire Straits - “Making Movies”

It was $19.85 in 1985. That was a lot of money when I was making $2.40/hour.

Same. I was in 5th or 6th grade and about wore that CD out. The case is long gone but I still have CD, I'm not sure if it still plays cause it's probably scratched to hell.

Not necessarily THE first, but among the first handful were Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band and Stanley Jordan's "Standards."
