I got stuck in one as a rental one time.  All they fucking had.  What a shitty plastic piece of shit that was.

I rented one for a few days when the DD was in the shop.
Probably the worst ride of any car that I've driven except for a fourth generation Ford Bronco.

ETA: the ride at interstate speeds. Like a rocking horse.

LOL I'm not either but I liked the fact that they were new and unique in a world of drab, cookie cutter sedans.  And the top and bottoms of the OP are awesome.  LOL "top and bottom", still not gay!!!

The one I recently gave to my parents has 250k miles and still going strong. Ugly but comfortable on the inside.

The only thing worse than a PT Cruiser is a PT Cruiser made to look like a woodyconvertible.

The only thing I like is the vintage door handles.

The first time I got into a rental one, I remembered door handles from a 1972 Bel Air my family had.

I have a visceral hatred of both PT Cruisers and Chevy HHRs. Both designed by the same guy.

And both driven by 60 year old Karens.

Shouldn't be hard, the cost to replace the license plate bracket is more than high book value.

I liked them better when they had teasers to make you think they were minivan sized....

Stick a HEMI in it and I would buy one.

Still better than my long-gone '73 Vega.

I do.  It's parents were the Neon and the Town and Country.  Brilliant marriage of unique styling and a deep parts bin to cherry pick.

I rented a PT Cruiser convertible circa 2007.  It wasn't the gayest thing in San Francisco, but it was pretty god damned fucking close.

I bought one new in 2001 and it was the last car I got a speeding ticket in, ironic because it was about the slowest/least powerful car I ever owned (not even sure WHY I bought the thing).  Only kept it a year so I cant say much about reliability but it was kinda cool at the time and they were so popular I really didnt take a bad hit on it after a year.  They were extremely good sellers around here, you still see quite a few of them on the road.

But I did find them useful recently when my kid started driving and I threatened to buy him one unless he got all A's, he hated them so much he actually did well in school to avoid a free PT cruiser for his first car lol.

We bought one for the wife in 2006, it was a 2006 (2007s had just come out) program car with less than 11k miles on it. Wanna say we paid right around 10-10.5K for it, was the Touring model which was a step above base. It lasted us till March 2014 when I traded it for a new Town and Country, wanna say we had about 210k miles on it and was leaking coolant/running hot. Only thing we ever had to do other than change the oil and keep it in tires (it had an issue with tires breaking bands for some reason) was put a new timing belt on it at about 150k. Started to argue with the poster above about battery placement, but honestly don’t remember ever having to swap the battery on it, I’d remember if it was somewhere flaky or hard to get to.

Edit: ok I went to google it, the battery on ours was under the hood, drivers side front (almost tucked under the grill front fender, had to put it in at an angle) but nothing crazy or huge pita...maybe on the turbo models (limited 180hp and turbo 210hp) it was different to account for the extra hardware under the hood?
