When I was between the ages of 7-8 there was a guy in a ski mask who would try to break into our house every night on and off and me and my mom would call the cops and watch him. She had nails in all of the windows to keep them from opening from the outside and he thankfully never got in. This went on for a long time with us watching him and hoping he didn't get in until the cops showed up around 4 -5 hours later from our little mini-precint that was never open. The cops would finally swing by after daybreak and take a report and say they couldn't do shit. My uncle Bob, who we hadn't seen in a while contacted my mom out of the blue one day and she told him what was happening and he loaned her a .22 ruger rifle. A few nights later the guy came back and she knocked on the window and pointed it at him and he ran like hell and never came back. That uncle(my dad's brother) taught me to shoot, hunt, and taught me conservative values. That ruger was the first rifle I ever shot and I've been a hell of a shot since. Since then I am unswerving in my beliefs no matter what or who is in office. |
