Guilty, LOL I panic bought some AK top loading drums too just in case. I hate that I paid double what they were 4 years ago though.

Guess it depends on if you happy switch or not.

I have a D-60 but no happy switch.

Loaded it (sucked), shot it once (starts out heavy as hell), reloaded it (still sucked), and it has now sat in the same spot in the safe for years.

I have 10's, 20's, 30's, and a D-60....plus some 5 round extenders.  Still trying to figure out what I like best.

I was genuinely unaware of ProMag’s reputation till now. I got this rifle during the Plandemic and mags were in very short supply at the time. The bulk of mine are Duramag.

Is ProMag at least typically better quality than Duramag or did I really scrape the bottom of the barrel here? I figured the Made in the US and lifetime warranty at least gave them some credibility...

Every promag I’ve seen in 30 years of shooting has been a jamtastic POS.

I’m sure someone has one that works but I’ve never seen it.

I generally don't like drums.  I have a couple AK 90-rounders since I have a Romanian RPK but generally prefer to use 20/30/40/45s in rifles.  I should probably get a D60 just to have one though.

The Magpul D60 is probably the best designed drum but paying $100 for 60 rounds seems like a bad ROI.  Obviously there's a market for them since folks are buying them.  I can envision some military uses as a break contact mag or a slightly deeper Plan B magazine for a SAW that ran out of belted ammo.

Most Promags are disposable garbage.  There are some exceptions though, their HK93 mags aren't total crap, and supposedly their 7.62x39 and 12ga AK drums are decent.

C'mon man what kind of weak shit is that?

If you have the coin, yes it's worth it to get some.  60 is 20 better than 40; it's just that the returns per $ are diminishing at that point.   The only thing a larger number of 30's or 40's do better is "cost less money".

There is a time and a place where a drum is the right answer.

I had a 75rd AK drum that I used once or twice....then it sat in the basement for the next 20 years.

I'm not repeating that mistake.

Get a 40 rd PMAG and call it good. Makes a nice monopod as well. and can be reloaded Hella fast with strippers.

Try that with a 1 at a time PMAG drum.

This works best kneeling on the ground with it wedged against your boot.

With the D60 on the ground, you push the flapper up with your left hand while using a maglula in your right hand. Push the rounds down as far as they'll go and hold slight pressure. Rework the flapper and repeat. Once you get into a rhythm down it goes very quickly. The longest part is removing the empty stripper clip and loading a new one. First time I tried it with this method it took me three or four minutes, now I've got it down to less than 2.

Use one of these:

These bags are pretty sweet for range trips.

I have the Black Hawk bags as well and happy to of snagged them cheap. But if going to the range, the Esstac is a better size

I view a bayonet as pretty pointless.

But I have one.

I view the D60 as nearly as pointless.

But I have 4 of them.

If I should need either of those things, not necessarily attached to the same rifle, then things have gotten really bad.
