I did a side by side taste test a few weeks ago. Dukes is slightly tangier than Hellman’s but they were similar.

Here's an explanation of the difference between the real kewpie and the American market kewpie.

You definitely want the original.

https://www.bonappetit.com/story/what-is-kewpie

Pretty much you want this bottle:

NOT this one:

...

I've never ordered it online, we always just grab it at one of the Asian markets near the house. But it looks like you can get it direct from their website:  https://www.kewpieshop.com/products/kewpie-mayonnaise-asian

If you want to compare them, they also sell the USA version, lol... but I don't recommend it.

Growing up I never could figure out why my Granny's ham sandwiches were so much better than my Moms.

Then I found out my Granny used Hellmann's and that was the secret ingredient while my mom used miracle whip. Miracle whip is actually good on turkey sandwiches after Thanksgiving though.

I want to know who supplies Subway with their mayo, because it's some good stuff. They really should considering bottling it up and selling at stores.

Did I make it in before the GD "make your own with your own fresh garden eggs and shit"?

Dukes is good.  I'm sure there's better, but not easily sourced where I live.

As little mayo as I eat, I'm not making my own or buying shit from Japan.  Dukes suffices.

That's pretty much the general consensus:

https://www.tastingtable.com/731214/is-there-a-difference-between-kewpie-mayo-and-regular/

Kewpie's American version of the mayonnaise is made without MSG, but a side-by-taste test done by the Chicago Tribune found the Japanese version to be more flavorful, with a briny, umami character the American-made Kewpie lacked.

That's only for those who care about what goes in their body.

This is a debate on what industrial seed lubricant is most tasty. Froglube, Dukes, or Hellman's.

There is no room for real food here. Might make someone live a longer and more fulfilled life.

It seems it is and it is not the best.

All my like I have used Best foods and it has always been fine. Hellman's and Dukes I heard about but as far as I knew I had not tasted either.

A month ago we suddenly had Dukes show up at Fry's and I bought some. Then we did a taste test at my house and everyone of us felt that Dukes tasted way better.

Now this was just a plain mayo only test, but Dukes has something else in it, spices, flavors, I don't know but it just has more.

I still like Best Foods/Hellman's but Dukes is better,

I grew up eating Kraft; it’s still what I buy. Duke’s is more a Deep South thing; it’s OK.  I wouldn’t slop the hogs on Miracle Whip.

I just got a squeeze bottle of mayo (not Dukes, my Giant was out of squeeze Dukes ) so it'll be a couple of months before I need more.

I only use it on my home brew burgers so it doesn't get used very quickly...

I'm guessing probably not.

Any Hmart, Lotte, Great Wall, or Good Fortune supermarket will have it though.

(We tend to stick with the Korean stores (Hmart or Lotte). Their produce/meat is usually nicer).

Heinz mayo tastes like Hellman's used to taste when I was a kid.  Now, Hellman's seems very light and "bland" in taste...probably just cheaper to produce when you water it down.  Heinz has that old school rich mayo taste.  That being said, sometimes I do want a lighter taste, depending on what I'm making/eating.  Both have their place in my kitchen.

Never tried Duke's.
