All worky worky. Time to drill a hole for this toggle switch and button the drive back up. I'm bringing the computer, disk drive, and monitor down to a good friend in PA next weekend. Quoted: 2364 is a 24 pin 8Kbyte ROM chip. 27128 is a 28 pin 16Kbyte EPROM chip. I had to make an adapter to plug the bigger chip into the smaller socket, and enable, with a switch, the ability to choose bank 0 or bank 1, as there are two different Kernal ROMs (think: firmware) on that chip. One that contains the stock Kernal, one that contains the JiffyDOS kernal. JiffyDOS is an enhanced operating system for the Commodore 64 (and 128, Plus/4, and Vic-20) that speeds up disk access a LOT, and adds a bunch of quick commands that makes using it a lot easier. I'm bringing the computer, disk drive, and monitor down to a good friend in PA next weekend. Gotta write a bunch of floppy disks so he's got a pile of games to play.
