Recently I have been cutting up several downed trees.  When the rounds are cut I move them to a staging area for later splitting.  If the round is too heavy to pick up I roll it.

Monday around 1100 AM I carried a 5 gallon pail of stain from the garage about 30 - 40 yards.  While heavier than I prefer I was careful and noticed no physical impact at the time.

Fast forward to Tuesday and I was fine when I woke up at 700 AM.  About 30 minutes later I noticed a mild discomfort in my lower back, right side.  Over the next hour vomiting started (about six events over about four hours) and the pain became significant.

Around 1130 AM or noon, I decided the pain was too much so I had a neighbor drive me to a local Urgent Care.  It would take about three hours to see me so I decided to go home and wait for them to call when my time was close.

My neighbor suggested the emergency room and I quickly agreed.

Check in and it was perhaps three hours before I was taken to a treatment room.  They took blood samples, did a cat scan of my abdomen and pelvic area and gave me something to ease the pain which was nice.

The doctor finally came in, asked questions and poked around my abdomen asking if it hurt.  No pain.

After six or seven hours there the doctor came in and informed me of the problem.    What was it?

I will provide the answer tomorrow.

Update:  My appendix was removed in 1968.

Update:  8 September 800 AM MDT:   The problem was a kidney stone....currently between the kidney and the bladder.
The discharge paperwork used "Ureteral colic"

I did fail to include some information that would have helped.

The doctor asked about removed organs...only the appendix is gone.

He asked about colonoscopies and diverticulitis.  I have had two colonoscopies and do not recall having diverticulitis....but I need to check my records to know for sure.

I did provide a urine sample.  I don't know what that would reveal.

Of course in GD you can expect wild answers.  That is why I allowed a few hours for people to have fun.  You also see the knowledge base here.   Originally I thought it was a sprained back muscle and all I needed was a muscle relaxant.  The vomiting and severity of the pain eventually won over the normal guy response to walk it off.

Kidney stone was the right answer.

Appendicitis was a good guess prior to me listing that I already had that.  I don't recall if the appendicitis pain was to the front of my lower stomach or the back side.

Diverticulitis may be a good guess.   I am not familiar with the symptoms.  I just checked my report on my last colonoscopy and that problem was not mentioned.

Hernia...not sure of symptoms on that.
