Based on the overall condition of that Kaw, I think y'all are going to be very surprised when it's (carefully) pressure washed.

View Quote As far as I know, Kenny never rode any triple motorcycle. The TZ700/750 was a 4 cylinder. |

View Quote They were nicknamed "widow makers" because the Powerband combined with an extremely thin flimsy front end and drum brakes was not a good idea in inexperienced hands. Stock, they're quick and fun but nothing like fast bikes now, but the 2 stroke powerband is still fun. |

Let me tell you a little story: Dad had one of these when I was a kid (along with a war era Indian sport scout w/indian sidecar). Kawasaki said 500 mach III on it as I recall. One day he traded the street bike for a locally campaigned H1R and a whole pile of parts. Dad converted the H1R to street duty and could be seen and heard commuting to the AFB every day it wasn't too cold or rainy. The fairing was quite thin and lightweight, plus it blocked the lighting for the street, so he hung that in the garage and in the early 70's Dad was riding a naked bike before they were a thing. Later in life, dad was a Goldwing guy and dropped the H1R in my lap, which I could be seen driving around S FL in the '80's until it was eventually sold to a rabid collector. Looked just like this, except beat up from use: |

I had a kawi 750 in 74. Fucking terrifying machine. Ridiculously fast. Lucky I didn't kill myself on the bike.

The first examples I ever saw of factory installed hydraulic steering dampers were on mid 1970s H1s, and they were very much needed. |

Quoted: Cushman Eagle View Quote I was out rabbit hunting at an abandoned farm 30 years ago and a rabbit ran into a well house full of storm windows. I reached in through the window and started pulling back the windows. When I Got to the last one, i flipped it back, and there sat a cushman eagle with a bunny rabbit under it. My buddy and I were speechless and the bunny got away. We left the cushman where it was, after covering it back up with the windows. |

Quoted: I never understood why people collect a bunch of vehicles and never restore or drive them. Why have a dozen motorcycles in a barn for 30 years and never even look at them. Or a field of cars if you will never drive them. Sell a bunch and use the proceeds to get the others running. Actually enjoy them. View Quote There are people who restore old cars and there are people who put old cars in barns. |

I had a 76 H2 750 in the 80's and am thankful I lived through it. Had the heads ported and polished, and giant expansion chamber exhaust with the carbs jetted up to match the flow. I'd had a 73 H1 500 before and knew the quirks of the machine but the 750 was a game changer.
Rode Deals Gap and all over East TN on that thing. Old State Route 70 from Rogersville TN to Jonesville VA was a hoot too. |

I like the paint job. Interesting. Cleaned up decent.
We had a high school wood shop teacher that had one. Not sure the size it was. But a bunch of us kids invited him to bring it out to the abandoned airport that was our “drag strip” one Saturday. He offered to race this kid that had a Yamaha 650. He ate that kids lunch. That was my introduction to Kawasaki triples. That was early 1980’s. It was an antique back then. |

Damn, that cleaned up nice! I'm not a motorcycle guy but that is fricken cool to find sn original anything in a barn. You going to restore or get it running and ride it?
Also, was the guy selling the Tornado? Big block fwd is awesome. And I love that body style. |

Quoted: This is too weird. Just this afternoon at lunch I was having a conversation with a friend about motorcycles. They asked if I had motorcycles when I was younger. I admitted that my taste in motorcycles was kind of weird since I gravitated towards 2 stroke street bikes. I had a Yamaha DS7, a Suzuki GT380 and a Kawasaki H2 750. I'm starting to think that maybe we do live in the matrix. View Quote Indeed. I just went down a rabbit hole of videos about 750 triples on YT last night. Don't even remember how I got there. |

Years ago, they were fairly common at the dragstrips. Still remember that sound.

Very early frame number means it is a 1969 H1 the original Widow Maker.
Got the motor freed up and able to kick it over before calling it quits tonight. I have never had a triple before, back in High School I had an RD 350 which was bat-shit-crazy insane to drive around. This thing looks fun as hell, cable operated drum breaks, a frame that is not rigid enough for a moped, itty-bitty little fork tubes and shocks... with a balls out 500cc two stroke... what could go wrong? Oh yeah and they run a very strange spark plug with these old capacitive discharge ignitions. Attached File |
