Unfortunately the FBI says Epstein killed himself, too.

I don't think I'd be wielding FBI reports as credible sources right about now.

And I think the P320 has serious systemic flaws that disqualify it from consideration as a carry gun.

Sig can't abandon the p320 without major pain from their military contracts.  If the p320 is booted from service, the company's investment in the platform will be sunk and I'm not sure Sig USA would survive.

What I don't get is why Sig just doesn't just fix the damn thing, get rid of the trigger mechanism that's the culprit and retrofit a new one.  Sure, it won't have that "better than glock" trigger that was so famed when sig debuted this thing, but frankly.....if you're designing a striker gun, why in the blue fuck would you preload the firing pin spring such that it can set off the primer without the trigger loading the spring.  Preloading removes one of the major safety features inherent to the striker design (not capable of enough kinetic energy to set off primer unless trigger is pulled).

On a fighting gun, I want safe more than I want a light trigger.  On a range gun, I'll take the better trigger.  The p320 isn't a range gun and never will be in stock fighting gun format.

The FBI Ballistics Research Center is different than the FBI's investigative and enforcement groups. The former is very legitimate, serious, and arguably the pre-eminent worldwide authority on many firearms-related topics. The latter is not.

The two should not be confounded. The Ballistics Research Center should not be irrationally dismissed because of other FBI groups' failures.

I remember when they were dead set on adopting the P320, as soon as it came out over the G19, but the bean counters said it did nothing better than the Glock.

Looks like they dodged a bullet.

It disqualifies it from being owned for me. If I can't trust a gun enough to carry it, I don't need it. It takes up space I could use for an actual functioning firearm.

Why did the person who made the video redact the agent name/state?  They claimed it was to give time for the agency to review things?  The report came out in August 2024.

See that note where it says that distribution is prohibited without FBI approval?

You have to sign some paperwork to get the FBI ballistics lab data.  So by handing it out beyond their agency, they are breaking the agreement.  Hence the removal of the name…

A police chief from Utah went to a FBI class with his department 40. They told him nobody uses 40 anymore. He was surprised and went home and told the city council they needed to get 9mm, so they switched.

Utah is (mostly admirably) frugal with public funds. But they love guns here like Klingons like goofy knives.

The FBI created and killed .40. I don't see how Sig gets past this. I did only watch part of the video and the department did modify the trigger after the 320s were received out of spec.

My 320 has sat in its box since the drop safety issue was discovered. How did a major duty pistol get out in the wild with that defect? Sig's usual "hold my beer"/you're the beta test. :/

But even if you're 100% behind the 320 how does a law enforcement agency keep them issued?

He claims he got it from the dept through a FOIA request. I wonder if the department wanted it released [wink wink] I wouldn't want to be a chief or police armorer sitting on a report that might be a smoking gun. What do you think if a 320 finally manages to kill an officer and this report was sitting in your desk drawer?

SIG has made it clear in both court cases and the public space that there nothing wrong with the 320. Nothing. Zero. Nada.

They cannot publicly come out with a "fix". That would be admitting there is something wrong with the gun and they've known about it. They would get sued into oblivion. All those settlements where they paid money but admitted no fault? Those would be reopened, likely with perjury charges to follow.

Nope, SIG is going to die on this sword. As certain YouTube personalities have said: "I think SIG is run by some bad people".
