Fastest I personally owned was probably the 77 jeep I had with a bored, cammed, and built up 350 swapped into it. I've mostly owned trucks.

However funny enough, the fastest acceleration I've ever rented was probably a tesla. I was surprised at how they launch.

0-60 in under 5 seconds. Yeah I haven't driven alot of real fast cars.

Considered slow by todays standards, the C5 Z06, was pretty fast back in the day.  Mine was a 2003 model and it would do 0-60 in the 3.9 to 4.1 second range and the quarter mile ETs were in 12.4 to 12.6 range if the driver did his part correctly.  The launch, however, was tricky to get consistent.  I don't recall the top speed as I never was concerned with that although its interesting that the Z06 was slower by a few miles than the 187 mph of the base Corvette due to its lower gearing.

I haven’t built a drag car in decades, I just have street cars now. The GT500 has been tuned to 805hp, the GT40 is 1966 tech and is a 450hp 200mph car, and the Cobra is 625hp in a small package.

If it has to be a car I’ve only owned one so a Subaru Impreza. If it’s any 4 wheeled vehicle I think my Excursion is the fastest. Only thing remotely fast I’ve owned is motorcycles the fastest of which is a Speed Triple.

Fastest, probably my 70 Cougar with a stout 363 Windsor in her. She had a 150 mph speedo that got routinely buried on the Courtney campbell and Howard Frankland bridges.

Quickest, probably my 93 Fox body LX that bent the body and cracked the rear side window on a hard launch

Mine actually has one built in (it was an option in certain trims - mine is a GT Premium with the Track Pack). It'll show G-forces, too.

I've just never actually used it to measure my 1/4 mile time (and even if I did, I have to imagine doing it an an actual drag strip would be more accurate anyway - and safer).

In it's current state of tune with the modifications it has, it's probably a 12.9 second car on sticky enough drag radials. In really good weather. On a great surface, with a really good launch. With perfect shifts.

But that's only a guess, based on other people's timeslips with similar modifications. The only way to know, would be to run it down a track. And I just never have.

On the street with the Pilot Sport A/S4+ tires it's currently wearing, I'd guess its in the low 13s somewhere.

Probably a tie between:

2022 Dodge Challenger R/T - was doing 0-60 runs in 5.1 seconds

2002 Subaru WRX - Modified "Stage 2" about 280 hp.

The second car I ever restored(‘67 Malibu was first) was a ‘69 Cougar. The second generation Cougars and second generation Camaros are two of my favorite body styles of all time. While ended up being sort of a Ford/Willys guy, I like all kinds of cars.

Definitely one of these two.

Camaro was a 427LSX with twin 65mm turbos and fully built (9" rear, triple disc clutch, fuel system, meth system, etc).  I was honestly too scared to drive it on high boost.  Low boost was around 1100whp due to the wastegate springs I had in it.

This car is brutal.  It did a 182mph half mile (standing start) when it had 100 less whp.

Still have the ZR1. Sold the Camaro to buy the vette. Due to weight differences and the different forced induction, the camaro would have seen vette tail lights for a bit but then walk around it if the road were long and straight enough due to the ~500whp more the camaro had on tap on high boost.

For that generation F-body, welded in subframe connectors and a strut tower brace were pretty much mandatory if you wanted to make serious power, or even just tighten up the frame to improve road course handling.

1968 Firebird 400, M21, 3.55 posi.0-60 around 7 seconds. Only had it to 120 as it literally felt like the wheels were floating after every bump.

Quickest would be the drag car I sold last year. '73 Vette naturally aspirated small block. Ran 9.70's

Fastest would be one of the ZR1 vettes. 2011 C6 and 2019 C7. Been in the 180's with both of them. Both are supposed to run over 200 but have not found a good enough place to get there yet.

Been low 180's in my Hellcat Redeye also but it isn't as fast as either of the vettes.

When I was a young teenager a guy that lived down the street had one of those and a VMax. I think they were the fastest “production” car and bike at the time. He had some type of good job and built a brand new house on an empty lot and moved in with his new wife. He was only in his early 20s. I can remember thinking to myself that I would have some cool stuff, no matter how hard I had to work for it.

Actually the car was "fairly" stock overall.

The motor had a CAI, LT headers with exhaust, MSD distributor and deleted emissions.

Swapped in a TH350 with a 2,8k converter and put 3.73's in the stock 7.5.

Suspension was completely stock.

The car was a fairly rare stripped down hardtop which made it a bit lighter than normal F-bodies.

Oh, and then there was the 150 plate kit on it.

Acceleration or top speed?

Fastest accelerating car I ever owned was a 1969 Grand Prix SJ ...... had a 390hp 428, 4 speed, and a 3:73 rear ....... It was brutally fast

Highest top end was an '85 BMW Alpina B7 Turbo ..... bought it in Oakland,CA in 1994

Got up to almost 160 on the drive home to Florida ..... and it still had more to give

Fastest or quickest? I had a '63 Plymouth Town and Country wagon that'd top 160 if you let it stretch its legs, but was a pig off the line.

I could NOT keep motor mounts on that thing. Finally had to chain the engine down.

View Quote

Hahaha! I hear and feel you on the "Motor Mount" problems for sure... It sucks to replace them but fun to know you have that much HP and TQ... I am having my brother come down and help me install a pair of "Moog" upgraded Engine Mounts since the engine got a "Stage-3" Velocity/AP-Tune that added about 100 more horses and close to 130 ft-lbs more of Torque give or take a little...

I come from a of Scottish Descent lineage. I'm an ex-powerlifter and athlete but still in good shape/health as God has been good to me!

So my frame is 6'3+ with shoes and and weigh a very comfortable 260lbs.

The "Lovely and Desirable to me" (and most others because they are great sports cars/sedans) are out of the question. The great Porsche's, Alpha Romero's, Mustangs, Corvette's, M5's & 6's, Audi R8's & R10's, etc, etc... I'm just too large of a framed guy to get even a modicum of comfort in any of these 2 door sports cars and 4 door "Sport" sedans without my knees driving into the under-dash.

So that leaves me with either Trucks or SUV's that offer class leading power and braking...

My vehicle(s) of choice are the Range Rover "Sport", Range Rover Full-Sized, or a Ford Raptor crew cab (awesome Truck btw) are my only realistic Go-To's for High-Performance, 4 wheel drive and/or All wheel drive, comfortable to drive with great power/handling/& braking. The 3 above mentioned make ingress & egressing very easy while still offering very comfortable and competent passenger and cargo room.

Out of these 3 aforementioned I have the Rover Sport 5.0L Supercharged V8 and bought her as a Certified Pre-Owned (probably will never buy anything new again only CPO's.) With the "Velocity/AP" Stage-3 "Tune" she's rated @ 605 BHP and 540 ft-lbs of TQ. 0 to 62mph is 4.0 seconds flat  when in"Dynamic/Sport" mode. Even loaded-up (just me driving, no passengers), with the 22" full sized matching "spare" rim and matching 31.4" tire, a 205 DeWalt Tool Kit piece and DeWalt impact wrench, (all tethered down and secured), a well provisioned off-road recovery kit, & fully fueled to the brim with almost 30 gallons of gasoline... She still hits 62MPH in 4.0seconds flat! Very good performance for a 5,000 pound SUV that is also very capable Off-Road as when the air-suspension is selected to the "Full-Extended Suspension" mode she has well over 9 inches of full ground clearance along with 2 fully automatic locking differentials. For me and the wife, kid, and GSD she makes the perfect road trip vehicle and is also the fastest vehicle I've ever owned. The 6 piston caliper Brembo front's and 4 piston caliper Brembo rear brakes make emergency stopping a bit painful in regards to the seatbelt(s) but very appreciated when needed.

My favorite and fastest vehicle I've ever owned she is. (They are a lot more affordable than one would think "IF" you can turn wrenches and perform your own maintenance...) I've done this to all my prior vehicles owned and also have an "Autel MX-808" Scanner/Programmer/Reader which makes for and awesome piece of kit for both my Rover and the wife's 4d Wrangler Rubicon! Truth be told the Total Cost of the CPO RR-Sport Supercharged is/was 10% less than the (bought-new in May of 15'), fully loaded 15' Explorer Sport 3.5L Twin-Turbo. The Rover is Twice the Car/SUV I easily admit over the Explorer in every single way.

Cleanest & Easiest Oil & Filter Changes EVER! I love the vacuum sump pump/extractor. The Filter is right atop the engine near the Supercharger's Snout and very accessable. No need to remove the 12 bolts that hold the beefy skid plate beneath the entire engine to tranny's bell housing using the Extractor... Dual air filter boxes are very easy to get at too. Brake pads and rotor's (never had to change a rotor yet on this SUV) are so easy to change due to the aforementioned (Autel MX-808) that puts the SUV into "Service Mode" and retracts both the front and rear caliper's pistons via touch of LED screen as well as re-calibrates the emergency brake system's pressure settings after pad swap... Reset's "Service Needed/Required" messages after changing oil/filter, and a myriad of other extremely useful options, programs, resets, ECU, TCU, Transfer Case Control Module, as it seems to have hundreds of option's of which I've maybe used 20 of so to date doing PM's and Diagnosing, resetting, etc...

Wifey's 15' Rubicon 6 speed that I sort of fit in with the driver's seat fully retracted. Riding shotty isn't a problem however...

Our devoted 2nd Daughter named (Ripley) that loves riding in the cargo well of both the RR and Rubicon equally! She's our ride or die bitch for sure!

And lastly my favorite side arm... My N-Frame "Smith M24" Round-Butt Snubbie .44Special that rides in my SUV secure console and on my person when not driving...
