For standard livery the old American polished aluminum scheme.

But some of the SW customs are cool.

Dr buddy of mine has a 1948 D18 Beechcraft that is polished aluminum. They contacted some of the old American Airlines guys who told them how to polish it and bought a couple of their old buffing rigs. They were a dual wheel setup that didn't leave swirl marks. His D18 has won numerous best in class awards at the various shows. I flew in it once in AZ where he pushed the performance limits.

I'm so glad to see planes from the museum in DC getting refurbished at the annex. We were there a couple years ago and the main museum was showing lots of wear and tear,some aircraft really needed taking down for a cleaning and repairs,namely the Gossamer Albatross was filthy and parts of the covering were coming loose.
