This happened in an affluent suburb.....he was a a captain with spirit airlines ....wow
Couple found dead while children sleep.... Brian Hayle was a pilot for Spirit Airlines, the company confirmed to this news organization. A couple identified as Brian and Courtney Halye were found dead in their Centerville home after two children in the home called 9-1-1 saying their parents were unresponsive. Coroner says deaths appear to be fentanyl related 9-1-1 calls: Two kids in the home said their parents wouldn’t wake up We’re still working to get an official cause of death and more on Brian Halye’s pilot work history “Captain Hayle served at the airline for just over nine years,” said Paul Berry, the company spokesman. “Our hearts go out to the family, friends and colleagues of Captain Hayle.” Hayle flew his last flight March 10, the company said. UPDATE @ 5:11 p.m. The Centerville Police Department released two 9-1-1 calls made by two children in the home where Brian and Courtney Halye were found dead. A 13-year-old boy told the dispatcher, "my two parents, I just woke up, and my parents are on the floor. My sister said they are not waking up." His sisters found their parents dead on the floor of their bedroom upstairs. He went on to say his parents had been fine the night before. The dispatcher determined 4 children were in the home-ages 13, 11, 10 and 9. One of the 3 girls also called 9-1-1 and said to the dispatcher, “my mom's on the floor and my stepdad, they're not waking up...we just woke up for school.” |

Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid analgesic that is similar to morphine but is 50 to 100 times more potent. It is a schedule II prescription drug, and it is typically used to treat patients with severe pain or to manage pain after surgery. It is also sometimes used to treat patients with chronic pain who are physically tolerant to other opioids. In its prescription form, fentanyl is known by such names as Actiq®, Duragesic®, and Sublimaze®.Street names for fentanyl or for fentanyl-laced heroin include Apache, China Girl, China White, Dance Fever, Friend, Goodfella, Jackpot, Murder 8, TNT, and Tango and Cash. |

What is fentanyl again? And, if it's a recreational drug, glad it happened at home and not in the air.
ETA: Nevermind...answered. I wonder if it was a case of some doctor going "here, take this" |

Fentanyl is 100 times more powerful than morphine. It hits hard.

I'm amazed the stuff is still legal. It's extremely powerful, sneaks up on users, mistakes get made.
There's someone at the local hospital trying to rehab with bone cancer from it. Given bad directions from the doctor with a mistake; you're dead. |

Murder - suicide?? Dayum..
Sux for the little ones. Hope there's family nearby that will keep them together. |

Cancer patients also receive it in various forms (patches, etc.) In the ICU it is used as an infusion for critically ill patients. |

Trying to find a fuck to give and coming up empty.
The dude was a fucking airline pilot and on junk? Good riddance. |

On an unrelated note, why did they mention it was a "blended" family? What does that have to do with anything?

Sad story for the kids.
Two druggies dead, I can't find the fucks to give... Except for the kids and the mess their irresponsible parents left behind. We have a pain clinic in our hospital. If 5 of us arfcommers were sitting around a table, and split the single doses of about 25% of the patients, we would all die. Opiate users build a tolerance pretty quickly, and if you keep ramping up their intake, the tolerance grows. Most people can't take fentanyl if they are not opiate tolerant. The fentanyl deaths come from casual users of opiates who get their hands on real patches or doctored ones, powder or pills. Hey baby, I got these pills that look like Vicodin, but are a little stronger, wanna give em a go? Then they take fentanyl pills and their kids find them the next day. Kinda like when a new batch of heroin hits the streets and it is way more pure than what people are used to. They bang their normal load and keel over dead. |

Ironically schedule 2, which means the feds think it is less bad for you than pot.....
Edit. Cancer patients seem to think pot helps their situation....so same use as fentanyl (reduces suffering) |

WOW......
At least he wasn't flying while high. But, that brings us to the question of employment and drug testing. Aloha, Mark |

Mexican cartels are bringing that shit in by the boatload. As another poster mentioned, dealers are cutting their shitty heroin with it to up the potency. |

Dumbasses View Quote If you are breathing 20 times a minute and I give you 100 MICROgrams of Fentanyl, you might start breathing 8 times a minute, less or more, depending on many factors. Let's say you are only breathing 2 times a minute. You will be awake, hazed, but if I tell you to take a breath, you will. So, I can keep you going as you will respond to commands. Now, if you breath slowly for too long then your carbon dioxide builds up in your blood and it makes you go to sleep. Now, someone is going to have to inflict alot of pain (surgery is good for that) to cause you to breath. Or maybe breath for you. Since both of them were down no one could coach the other to breath or intervene. Now mix in alcohol or another depressant and all bets are off, you have to be skilled enough to rescue their airway as they possibly will not respond or breath. |

The deaths appear "drug related due to paraphernalia found at the scene," according to Officer John Davis, the Centerville Police spokesman. View Quote |

Damn, this happened right up the road from me. I thought Chillicothe was supposed to be the bad area? Centerville is actually a nice area. Just ate some City BBQ there last weekend.
