Ran into this for the first time at work a couple of weeks ago.
I’m doing a temporary assignment facilitating online training. There are about 75 of us facilitators in the group.
My training partner and I were assigned to tech support for another team.
I never met the other team until the day before the training. One of the guys, he was a normal looking guy, about 35-40, had an effeminate way of speaking, but I just chalked it up to simply his way of talking. Some guys just talk like that.
So the next day we are teaching the class, things are going good, I’m thinking this guy has got it going on. As the day progressed, he slipped into a full lisp and it just jumped the tracks! I could see the participants on their webcams trying not to crack up, giggling, just generally distracted.
I sent the guy a PM saying I could take the class for a while if he wants and he agrees.
The students got focused and we finished the day with no issues.
After class I got an email from him thanking me for helping out. I looked at his signature and it read;

I was like WTF???
These people are sick.
Why is it popular to advertise one’s mental illness?
