A lot of the black guys I work with wear the flat bills. Most I'm friends with, so I don't automatically associate it with "douche" or "gangsta", but I usually do think "douche" when I see young white guys out sporting them out in the world.
I think they look stupid, but I'm not one to tell another human what they should have on their noggin. I've worn ball caps since I was a kid, but they served a purpose at stages. First was to block the sun off my eyes playing ball and hunting. Another was: "Crap, I'm late for work...no time for primping...jump in clothes and cover nappy head and go." Third is the same as the first, but at a sun/rain/debris shield for the glasses I've worn for ten years now. The flat bill would not cut it in that role. |

Hell freaking no....
We used to wrap the bill in a baseball, tied it tight around said baseball and throw it in the dishwasher. It had to hold shape. The tighter the better. |

didnt this all start with the skater community...way back, migrated to the rap/gangster/lowrider wannabe crowd, now its moved into automotive racers/tuners..etc.

Around here it's usually:
Flat-bill ball cap (ears tucked in) White Oakley Gascans or camouflage Costas Skinny Wranglers tucked into square toe western work boots A huge lipper of Copenhagen wintergreen A heavy-duty pickup with 20" chrome wheels, low-profile tires, a lift kit with the rear end sagging, and some sort of lights under it (bonus points if it's a diesel King Ranch) I like my ball caps with curved bills, thank you very much. |
