Why wouldn't she be? Because of several people in this thread saying she wasn't going to make it and the hotel being compromised. In all likelihood she'll be fine. She's in a modern, concrete multistory building. She's going to be fine. |

The hotel has actually taken significant damage, it's raining on the inside but that's probably just the windward sides windows having been blown in. |

I am getting text updates from my grandma, through my sister. My grandma is in Cape Coral and in the eye right now. They had power until just now. Cell service is surprisingly still working.

So.. does the back side come back to kick em again? or does the storm dissipate enough by then? The back side of this particular storm is gnarlier than the leading edge. Gonna be sporty after the eye passes over. |

@BlackFox
I thought I recall from one of your earlier threads about your yacht and morning situation that you lived right over where this thing is making landfall, am I mistaken? Glad you're not in the danger zone now but hope your property isn't about to get smacked. |

Quoted: Payers for everyone, including myself! Here in North Naples, power kept going off and coming back on within 10 seconds. At 12:30 it finally went off and hasn’t come back. Probably a dumb question, but when does the power company start trying to get power back on? I assume not until the storm has passed, but is there a wind speed threshold or something they use to determine when to start working on getting power back on? View Quote Two weeks. |

Glad you're not in the danger zone now but hope your property isn't about to get smacked. View Quote @ThornBooger - Yes, our primary house is on Sanibel. We're starting to establish a presence on the ARFCOM island which is inland a bit, but still in the hurricane strength windfield. The island is covered with old 100' tall oak trees, which are beautiful until a storm like this rolls in. Everyone has been evacuated from both. I honestly don't know if either will survive intact and be habitable. I don't know how else to say it but I'm in a position to replace property and recover without insurance - whereas most of the fixed income retirees are not. I had a safe place to flee and be comfortable. Most did not. I have heavy equipment staged for cleanup. Most people would think it's strange to sit here feeling great while my properties are likely being destroyed, but I consider myself very fortunate. I'm good. I worry about everyone else.... |

I’m guessing it may be gone soon. Keys are clear. We had water above our dock. So about 2-2.5 feet above normal. Nothing damaged. |
