Some time in the near future, some shit-dicked E5 is going to be supervising a work detail, regaling the privates with tales of how things used to be "back at Liberty..."

Everyone on those panels should be forcefed broken glass while listening to Dixie

They should leave it as is, Bragg was a dumbass and Democrat to boot.

I had recommended that Ft Bragg be renamed Ft Watters, after Chaplain (MAJ) Charles Watters. He was an Airborne priest who was killed during the Battle of Dak To while dragging wounded paratroopers back into the perimeter. He was subsequently awarded the MoH.
As much as I disliked the renaming of these posts as some sort of salve for an imagined injury, I thought the renaming of the home of the Airborne after a paratrooper priest would have been bad ass. |

Horrible to name places after liberty and Medal of Honor recipients instead of traitor slavers.

Quoted: The rest of the names. View Quote If that's accurate, some of those are weak, but some are legitimately awesome choices. I love the Novosel pick. Hal Moore is a great choice for Benning. Naming an installation after Ike is a good choice. I have mixed feelings about Gordon being that installation. Richard E. Cavazos might not be the best choice for Ft. Hood, but I don't hate it. I would have preferred Patton with Hood being a big ass mech/armor base, but Cavazos has two DSCs for leadership in combat, so I'll take it. Changing Bragg's name to Liberty is pretty weak. They could have chosen any number of Airborne legends or a big WWII guy like Ike or Bradley, and they went with that. I don't care as much about the POG bases. (This was my response to this post in the Rucker thread.) |

My grandfather was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for actions in WWII. I want a base named after him.
|
|
There are enough MoH recipients out there that we can stop re-naming historic military bases after some general that wrote his own Distinguished Service cross award.

Some of these choices do not suck.
That said, Ft. Gordon could have easily been left alone...with updates to reflect it was in honor of Gary Gordon. |

It will always be Fort Bragg to me.
Even though he was one of our shitty generals. |
