Go home and plug it in.
Oh wait, you don't have a home, rent, and are totally dependent on a very few chargers that take up to an hour to top you off. Idiot. |

I think the local news just did a wonderful job in advertising the fact that a bunch of vehicles have been left, "stranded" by their owners at these specific locations. This is noteworthy in light of the fact that breaking into vehicles has become a national pastime.

They are in chicago, it gets cold and crappy there every winter. It's not like ''OMG, we're going to get a couple days of below 32f temps!!!!'' like in a southern state. |

It's not like ''OMG, we're going to get a couple days of below 32f temps!!!!'' like in a southern state. and if you are always using pay chargers are you even getting the benefit of cheaper electricity aka the reason most people claim to want one? Doesn't it come really close to being similar in cost to gas? Why shoot yourself in the nuts like that if you can't even use "cheap electricity" (also, electricity is "cheap" in chicago because they pollute the entire state with subsidized windmills that send it all up north, leaving the rest of the state with fucked over electric rates that are over 2x as much) |

soon the turds will discover tons of valuable parts just sitting around

I would not have known this tidbit if it not for ARFCOM. The US-based mainstream media is awful at keeping people informed, especially on controversial topics that they support, but eventually it will come out, the mass media is own by a few big media companies and are gatekeepers of information, but not Google etc.

This is interesting. Tesla chargers are considered the best around. Ideally we will find out what caused the problem.
There are Tesla chargers all over and many in the area that has been plagued by severe cold. Have there been similar problems in other places? If you are navigating to a charging site does the Tesla system advice how many chargers are there and how many are working? Does it advice how many people are going there? |

Looks like the perfect business opportunity to haul in 2-3 20-25KVA diesel generators mounted on a trailer and charge $150-$250 a charge.
Cash only, pay up or shut up. |

Some enterprising youths done went and cut all the catalytic converters off every single one of them abandoned cars.

Oh a charging station broke and the users couldn't figure that out.
Sort of like pulling into a gas station and putting the nozzle in despite the out-of-order sign on the pump. The only people dumber than TV reporters are Tesla drivers. |

Yes, it would take quite awhile. Have to weigh transport size and weight of the generators against the speed to recharge. Sure you could have a big 100-150 KVA one but one would be pretty heavy if run by a diesel engine. A 20-30 KVA diesel one would still be efficient and small enough to put multiple on a trailer you could park by several different vehicles. |

What temp is the cutoff for a Tesla BMS to stop charging? I know on the battery system I tested, the BMS shut down activities if temps were too high or too low. |

Solar panel array on the roof supplemented by some windmills mounted less than 13’6” above those should do the trick . Ill send out a bulletin.

Need a Federal law making it illegal for Chicago to get that cold.
Mandatory fossil fuel cars should emit more greenhouse gas to warm up the place. |

The only way this gets funnier is if their other car is a gelled up diesel parked in the driveway/street.

There is one shot where two cars are 3-4 inches apart near the nose. Great parking EV bros.

I carry a single 12v car battery (charged before every trip) in the bed of my truck along with a fire extinguisher, 12v winch, LARGE first aid kit, spare fuel (20 gallons), DeWalt power pack, food, water, tools, mags and spare ammo for the 12 gauge and my 9mm and $500 in 20s. I live in a moderate temperature area. We had about an hour of freezing drizzle today. Never needed anything as I stayed inside by the fireplace all day even though the natural gas fired HVAC (3 units) were working just fine. I don't give a shit about people that choose to live in the artic with no brains.
