A gunsmith built 2011 would be my choice.  Brazos, Akai, Atlas etc.

You mentioned the Staccato.  Friend of mine is USMS SOG and carries their new Staccato.

You mentioned RMR but I think they are all cut for DPP?  I may be wrong.

For what it's worth he says the gun is Titties.

Cut for DPP but have a plate for RMR.  I've got two, one with each optic mounted.

We should have a range day Whiskers.  Ill bring the sigs, a few other guns you might like to try.  Perhaps we could find an indoor range with some rentals you might like too.

Don't threaten me with a good time.

I’m happy to meet half way sometime.

The idea of carrying that gigantic thing around amuses me greatly. It's like IWB carrying a Mk23 lol

And as fine of a pistol as it is, for cost reasons I think I'm going to go Staccato/Wilson/226

Came to post this.  Ran the piss out of my edc x9 yesterday, started with 400rds already through the gun since last clean and lube.  Ran an additional 250 through it yesterday  and it was still butter.  The guys with me were starting to get rtb issues and mag issues.  They had a sti Costa and a staccato p duo.  I let one of them shoot my edc, as he said he didn't like the grip of one he handled.  He loved how it felt and how smooth it shot.  I had just put a .140 wide ameriglo front on it to match the .155 rear.  15 for 15 at 50yds on 2/3 ipsc, group was about 3" tall by 7"-8" wide.

I wouldn’t want to CC or OC the X6 either.  It’s a range and competition gun first.

My short list, if excluding CZs, would be;

P226 or P229 Legion SAO ($1300)
Staccato C2 ($2300)
Langdon Beretta 92 Elite LTT NP3 ($1600)
Wilson Combat EDC X9 ($2900)
Zev OC9 Elite ($1800)

Now, that said, real every day carry would make me hesitant to go with a competition gun for two reasons.  The aggressive serrations, magwell, lightning cuts, etc can potential snag or collect lint. The low trigger weight, sub 2-3lb, can lead to unintentionally touching off a second round under recoil under stress, which may be in a direction you don’t intend.

Its dumb, but doable.

Helps to be a former fatty with some old baggy pants with some extra room though.

I'm not looking for a race gun. I'm looking for an above average "duty" gun, I can also compete with sometimes.

Besides hard chrome and a big mag well what's the difference between the two?

The Sig, Langdon, and Wilson should be top of the list then.

My opinion;

The Wilson is very expensive.  I haven’t had the pleasure of shooting one, but from all accounts it’s excellent.  But again, it’s more than the Sig X guns when they were new and available just a couple of years ago.  I would therefore expect that level of performance too.  I would definitely shoot one first before buying.

The Langdon Berettas, when NP3 treated, should be in your list, even though they are DA/SA. The trigger is as smooth as a Sig SAO in my opinion.  Mecgar Mags are around $25, like the P226.  The gun is just a winner.

The Sig SAO, us of course, an excellent choice, made for carry and combat.  You won’t feel bad carrying it at all. Only potential learning curve is the flat trigger.
Mine has been carried a bunch, and was my nightstand gun for years. It’s comfortable and feels great in the hand.

Some common race gun things:

Enlarged funnel magwell
Extented controls for magazines, safeties and slide stops.
Lighter slides with cuts.
Heavier frames to balance the gun, or added weight to reduce rise.
Porting or compensation.
Lighter triggers, and shorter resets, some low enough to double tap on occasion.
Some have dimensions or specs to fit a specific competition category.
