The fashion industry has ALWAYS shown unhealthy people. Remember the 90's when every model was 5'10, weighed 100lbs, and did their weight in drugs/cigarettes ever week? The "heroin chic." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heroin_chic Even now if you pick up a European fashion magazine, you're rarely going to have models even average in size. They're very thin. The American clothing stores and magazines are just realizing that almost half the female population is obese so you might as well sell to them. It's not worth showing ads of 110lbs models when less than 10% of the population resembles that size. |
