You.  And.  Me.  Both.

I've thought about trying to somehow convince people GSD hair filled pillows would be valuable enough to buy.  I could make one a week.

I HATE their hair.  Shaving them down with a 3/8" blade helps tremendously.  The undercoat is easier to get out and what hair they do shed is a lot smaller and doesn't show up as bad.

Good dogs, but I'll never have another shedder.  Can't deal with it.

I swear they blow an entire coat per week.

If GSD hair was valuable I'd be a millionaire!

This is my GSD mix.  His name is Dewed and he's a good dog, but can be a holy terror.  I adopted him 1 month ago and he is about 1 year old and right at 50lbs.

Today at 4pm I put him is his crate/kennel to while I went to my cousin's graduation party.  At 6:30pm my cousin/neighbor texted that my alarm was going off.  So I left the party and headed home, expecting to arrive to the police trying to get into my house.  Well I beat the police back only to find this.

He managed to bend and open the crate, not the door mind you, but he managed to unhook the side wall and get out.  That's not too bad.  But after getting out, he tried to get out the front door, knocking the door sensor loose and setting off the alarm.  Then he kept fighting with the door to get out and managed to rip the alarm control panel off the wall.

Along with destroying the floor mat that was at the door, along with a bunch of other stuff.  When I arrived the alarm had reset and wasn't going off, so upon entry I tried to turn it off, but none of the buttons worked.  So I decided to put him in the back yard before I beat him(jk).  As I opened the back door the alarm went off again.  I couldn't turn the damn thing off.  Then the alarm company called, gave them the password, and told them I was unable to turn it off.  The told me what to do.  So off the the back closet to remove the battery and disconnect the power supply.  The front door was still open and it looked like some one had ransacked the place.  As I was coming out of the back, I heard, "HELLO!".  I replied back but they didn't here me. So again I heard, HELLO!".  I replied, this time they heard, asking my name and if I was the home owner, to which I told them my name and that I was the home owner, then gave them my ID.  Funny thing is my HK VP9 was laying right there on the table, I don't think they ever saw it.  The deputy asked, "What happened?"  I replied, "MY DOG!".  She then, said, laughing, "Sorry to laugh but my labs do the  same thing.  After a couple of minutes they left.  I then cleaned up the mess and let the monster back in.  He has been on the couch, seeming afraid to do anything, ever since.

These two brushes will pretty much whip the undercoats ass.. they will still shed, but these will make a huge difference...
Especially the yellow handles one...

That sucks..he is having anxiety attacks from being left..you need to work on that..maybe crating him at times while you are there while he can't see or hear you, when he lays down and is good reward him, when he makes a ruckus intervene and discipline/scold him.... also you are going to need some HD wire ties or some #9 wire to secure all the joints in his crate or he is going to keep getting out of it...

We LOVE our GSD but my wife is a neat freak. She cleans and vacuums every day and the dog hair drove her nuts when we first got Zeke. (Shes adjusted to the hair now). But anyways, we used to use a furminator (the yellow handled one you pictured and we tried a bunch of others, too. I'll admit the furminator was better than most but it drove me nuts how the little pins bend over and need adjusting all the time. It also aggravates the dog if we keep going over the same spot.

This is what you seek https://www.petedge.com/zpetedgemain/catalog/productDetail.jsf?area=&sort=RD&wec-appid=PEDM_WEBSHOP_TR&page=C35456610F7C42BFA1CA25328F1F0BBB&itemKey=005056A633791ED2B59141177A48AFB3&show=12&view=grid&wec-locale=en_US

Not only does it work incredibly well, but our dog loves it. When we take it out he gets all excited and starts jumping all around us and actually wants us to brush him with it. They are cheap, too.

Here he is...a "free" rescue. Sheds so much I am surprised he is not bald, is stubborn as a mule, super smart, handsome, and a giant A-hole some days. We got him at about 3 months old and he is just shy of 4 years old now.

He is now 1.5 years old and is a monster.  Has a hell of a bite on him

He stays attached at the hip to me. He is however, extremely protective over my wife.

Anyone tried to shoot with their GSD sitting on their lap?

Little hard to get the shot timed with panting.

Cain decided he HAD to be on my lap while we were trying to kill a few rockchucks.  I think the rockchucks were paying him with treats under the table.

Pic from tonight, on the lookout for rabbits. He is looking MUCH healthier and happier. Love, a good diet, exercise, and a raw egg or two a day will do that to a dog.

Shameless bump.

I got a GSD in college from an ad in the paper and named him Blue (as in Michigan Wolverines).  The lady whose yard he had wandered into escorted him to the back of my truck, but I told her I wanted him to ride up front with me (regular cab, long bed with a cap truck).

He barked non stop as I think he understood he was leaving and not coming back.  I pulled over and said, "Hey you're my dog now and we need to get along.  I'll take good care of you but you need to behave."  He stopped barking and came over and put his head on my leg.

My oldest niece was about 5 at the time when the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie came out and she was spinning and kicking around the house and accidentally hit him on the nose.  He knew that was the sign to go lay down and my niece balled because he kept moving away from her and wouldn't come to her.  She went outside and sat in her Mom's Wrangler which just so happened to have the hard top removed.  Blue unlatched the screen door and ran around the Jeep barking, trying to get my niece to come play.  After several minutes of this, he realized she wasn't going to come out so he leapt over the door into the back seat in one move and sat there until she finally started petting him.  Would not have believed it had I not seen it with my own eyes.

Currently have a Boxer mix that I rescued off Craig's list but I'll have another GSD before my time is up.
