He wandered up on me while working one day. Someone new in the neighborhood and just wanted to play fetch.

Michonne our rescue GSD. Just a few days from her one year anniversary.

She showed up at my door at work a year ago.

Thanks for asking about the wife. Her thumb is better but still does not work like normal or have full range of motion.

Some great looking dogs in this thread!

Our current GSD mix foster, Sonar. He's a blind pup, but is one of the happiest dogs I have ever seen. If he doesn't get adopted out soon, we may be keeping him.
He recently decided that he will walk on a leash with us, so we just went out for a walk. He's curled up on the floor next to my feet.

Some may remember a few months ago my thread about losing my last foster due to health reasons. I was very dubious about taking in a blind dog immediately after, but he's been a blast. We have had a long road in the past few months, we've battled worms, a nasty respiratory infection and got him neutered. Now, he's finally healthy and acting like himself.

Good on you. I would bet that being blind is not as hard for a dog as it would be for a human.

After he learns the layout of the house/yard it's all cake for him. Think of it as walking around at night in your house with the lights off. You bump into shit occasionally, but you know where things should be - and get pissed when they're left somewhere that they are not meant to be!  My back yard is about 1/4 acre with trees and a shed and he'll run and chase my two dogs like he can see perfectly fine. Out of the 3 sets of stairs onto my deck, he only uses one particular set.

Our sofa had mouse traps on it to teach our pup he is not welcome there.. He hates mouse traps.    They scare the hell out of him.

Fivepointoh's is the funniest.  Zeus's first day and he pwn3d the couch and has two women doting on him.  Typical GSD

We made a deal with ours.  Really, she made a deal with us - she gets the leather ottoman, we get the leather couches.  She gets everyone's yogurt.

When we still had our Doxie, she let him up there occasionally.  Until he'd start humping her head or wake her up or something else obnoxious, then she'd push him off.  100lbs vs 10lbs, he was a tough little guy but quantity has a quality all it's own.  If she wanted him off, he was off.

Here's Dona. Turned 7 last month.

Laying down with my little guy, she is super protective of him.

This one, she was sleeping, and he weaseled his way under her leg.

Nice dags. I honestly don't get folks that don't like dogs. How can you not? Every person that I have met that does not like dogs, had serious personality flaws being two faced, fake, untrustworthy shitheads and generally insufferable twats.

We don't see ourselves as awesome, we just love helping the dogs out. Sonar is such a loving dog, it makes it that much easier.

What's awesome is a Blind dog learning to play fetch!

I love these pictures! This guy has some character

AGREED! Awesome job that you and your family are willing to take on a blind rescue. That is true dedication to rescue work vs. the easy stuff.

He looks like a great dog and you can certainly see the happiness in his face.

Well, we just made it official, we are adopting SONAR! This will mean the end of our fostering until we buy a bigger house. We just don't have enough room for anything more than 3 dogs.

My wife had said that it would be an awesome Christmas present and after making her sweat for a few weeks, I agreed The darn dog wouldn't keep the bow on his head, though.

I feel like I should post a new thread about what happened with my GSD. A process server came to my house looking for my parents one night and came onto my enclosed porch while I was sleeping. Needless to say my GSD did his job and the guy trying to serve papers to the wrong person TRIED to shoot him. I got ambushed at court and now my poor GSD is forever registered as a dangerous dog.

Heres my boy. He can get beers from the fridge, find the cell phones, find remotes, find his leash, hes very smart. Best dog anyone could ever ask for.
