Spoiler theory I've compiled based on some things I've read on other sites. Click To View Spoiler Battle of Winterfell is a distraction. The NK sends his army there while he and the dragon move to KL. NK knows that 2v1 dragons in Winterfell means he almost assuredly loses his WMD so why not move down to KL where we know there are "a million people give or take". Bronn heading up from KL to Winterfell will see him and thats how Winterfell finds out. This alligns with Brans vision of a dragon flying over KL and DragonTits vision of a burnt throne room filled with snow or ash.
Jamie travels south and burns the city with the wild fire that's left over. "burn them all" View Quote |

Dragons won’t be needed to burn Kings Landing. Cersei has already shown that she won’t be taken alive. She’ll burn the city to the ground if defeat seems eminent. The only way she’s coming off the throne is when they scrape her ashes off of it. |

Quoted: Who is going to burn them alive? The NK would go to use the people of KL to raise another massive army of the dead. Jamie would burn this now massive undead army using the wildfire. Bran worged into the mad king "burn them all" the same way he worged into Hodor "hold the door" View Quote 1. The Night King has spent the past decade building this huge army. He has whooly mammoths, giants, white walkers, an untold number of Wright’s, and a dragon. He’s going to abandoned them a days march from the largest force ever assembled (that we’ve seen)? Yea, that’s a solid plan. 2. Let’s say he does that and flies the 1500 miles south to KL. How is supposed to kill everyone in the city by himself without burning them? I get it, he’s a likable dude. He’s got that strong silent type thing going for him, rides around on an undead dragon that he made his slaves retrieve from a frozen lake, and have you seen his javelin throws?! He’s a certified badass but he’s also seen his men die at the hands of humans. You think he just says “fuck it” it’s only 1000000:1, we’ll do it live? 3. The biggest issue is going to be the distance. Bronn sees him at home point south of winterfell, continues north and finds Jamie. Jamie then rides the 1500+ miles south before the NK starts marching north? Little Finger did die at winterfell, maybe his fast travel device is there? |
