The problem is the second movie was such a shit show that there is no fixing it unless they go back and completely redo ep VII.

In before someone suggests that Rey dreamed all of "The Last Jedi."
I figure the only way this could be worse is if it turns out that the entire thing was a hashish induced vision by Jar Jar Binks toking up on the hookah. |

Gee, I can't imagine why another Star Wars movie directed my an insane Woke feminist is a complete piece of shit.
How many disabled Latinx/Black Lesbian hero's who fight a evil white male strangely similar to Trump are in this one? |

When George Lucas is being called in to save Star Wars, you know you have serious issues.
I couldn't care less about this movie but I am excited for Mandolorian. Jon Favreau is Star Wars' last hope. |

I don't think George will tie himself to this shitshow at this point.
They told him to fuck off when he said how he felt about thier direction with the trilogy. Why expose yourself to the abuse of the fans and have KK and JJ say in synchronicity "It was George's idea." |

Quoted: I thought they did a decent job with "Solo." View Quote Although I was expecting much, so the fact that it wasn't a complete SJW train wreck was a pleasant surprise. Disney just needs to let the trilogy die and focus on stand alone movies going forward. They so badly wanted to create a movie on scale with the original trilogy but for a generation of new woke millennials, problem is that's not the fan base that made starwars the cinematic icon that it was. |

Revenge of the Sith was the last one I saw. No interest to see the latest ones.

So they went to the old white man Patriarchy to save their SJW movie?

Is it normal practice in the movie industry to have so many different cuts? Like, I could understand two slightly different versions, but here we seem to be talking about three vastly different movies? I guess this tells a lot about how SW has turned into nothing than a money milking machine. View Quote |

There is a classic hero cycle that resonates with humans of all cultures during all know history.
Be it spoken, sung, written, a play, movie, etc. You can add some cute kid stuff for younger audiences, some dramatic twists, and various modifications, side orders, and dressings. What you can’t do is totally blow off the cycle. Start from nothing. Earn your power. A demanding mentor. Have you lowest low. A hubris fall. Lose your gift. Earn and atone. Regain your gift. A worthy opponent defeated against all odds. Hollywood wants to give us woke leads that are just handed OP, and kick ass with no risk of losing. Not a satisfying cycle. It does not resonate or connect. Classically it starts as a coming of age. Joe Blow picks up a magic crystal and saves a bunch of people. Effortlessly massacres minions, a couple of boss battles, and then the big bad and goes home a winner. That doesn’t cut it. But that is what Hollywood is giving us. Joe Blow is an orphan and slave. A mysterious stranger helps him escape. He trains him. Through dedication and effort he finds a magic crystal he was born to activate. He defeats minions, he becomes adored and showered with riches. He gets cocky and has his ass handed to him in a boss battle and loses the crystal. He goes into hiding and is hated. He overcomes his fear and with great effort and sacrifice and risk of life, finds the bosses. With the aid of his former mentor that dies getting him there. He defeats them and regains the crystal. He reaches full power. He seeks out the big bad knowing he will likely die even if he defeats him. He defeats him. This cuts it. The mentor can be his long lost father and the big bad his grandfather. Maybe the big bad is his long lost twin brother. Maybe the big bad wipes out his village of warrior monks he does not remember because he was a baby and the mentor was head of the village warriors who watched all his friends and family die before being knocked out and left formdead. Or whatever. Ties resonate. Effort connects. Sacrifice is felt. All these connections seem to be missing and it all falls flat. They could have made Rey the love child of Hans long lost sister and Luke. Or Lando snuck it in Leila while she was on the rocks with Han and Darth Emi is her half brother. Or from Boba Fett raping a surviving female Jedi. There needs to be some tie to invest in. And the boss battle or big bad can’t be some random smoke dude we have no connection with. It’s a mess. |

Meh, Lucas is a shit dialog writer and has a cringe inducing sense of humor but at least he is capable of creating a proper story arc and setting up a "lived in" world. His original idea for the new trilogy is a million times better than what we ended up with. View Quote |

I can't remember the last Star Wars movie I saw. I know I watched the first three years ago. Maybe one or two since then. Completely lost interest after that.

Uncanon eps 1-3, 7 and on, and reinstate the EU, and I'll go see another Star Wars movie.
Until then, fuck you Disney. |

Star Wars is dead to me. Along with Terminator, Predator, and a few others they have run into the ground like they are trying to split the world in two.

They just need more transgender actors doing lesbian scenes. That will save the film by making it so woke that every SJW will have to see it five times. View Quote It's for the children. And the Ewoks. |

At it's core, Star Wars is a Samurai/Western set in space.
Think The Seven Samurai/The Magnificent Seven in a galaxy far far away. When they moved away from that, the franchise withered and died. |

Even it was flawed & bloated with unnecessary crap. Compare it to Star Wars/A New Hope, which had pretty similar major plot points overall, and you see that nearly everything between the action scenes was unneeded crap (and even a good deal on stuff during the fight scenes). Objectively it was entertaining, but that's it; everyone is so used to terrible action movies (not just SW) that Rogue 1 is graded on a strong curve.
