STATS

10 BEDROOMS

9 BATHROOMS

21,528 SQ. FT.

$21.7 MILLION

Burg Rheineck, a spectacular medieval castle in Germany, towers above the trees and overlooks the town of Bad Breisig and the Rhine River. In 1835 it was renovated by architect Johann Claudius von Lassaulx. Many notable guests have stayed in the noble residence, including the last German emperor, Wilhelm II; Soviet statesman Mikhail Gorbachev; and John F. Kennedy Jr. Today, it’s a rare chance to own a piece of history.

OP, pretty sure I went to the one in your post. I recall thinking how small it looked from a distance. Still not a massive structure, but larger than it looks from the ground.

I would love to do that also.
But from what I understand Wales has the most castles to explore (my brother-in-law was born in Wales).

Most castles in a small area, along with varying styles of fortifications.  Castle towns with B&Bs.  There are also Roman fortifications close by as well.  You can see all the good ones in a weekend, stay a week if you want to get more in depth.

I've been planning a vacation there for the near future.

The keep is from the 1300s?   Then it was star-forted at a later date?

Pretty cool pic btw

Malbork is huge!

I just looked up the numbers. It's more than twice the size of Prague Castle, and three times Buda Castle!

Wow.

If it's a German castle you want but don't want to have to deal with the unwashed immigrants, Malbork Castle in Poland is your thing.  And, it's also the largest of them all.

I believe it was the main seat for the Teutonic order during the eastern/Baltic crusades.  Hence why it was so big.
