I think that the final scene in "The Shootist" has to be the most impressive, as well as the most meaningful, taken in context. The final shootout in "Open Range" is very seldom cited, but nevertheless excellent. I admit to the a certain admiration for the shoot-out scene in "Pale Rider", as well as the final shoot-out in "Quigly, Down Under".
For pure gore, the final shootout in "The Wild Bunch" has no equal, short of a pure war movie. Only tangantally related to shooting, the final scene in "Casablanca" has it all. |
