First class on a German train isn't much of an upgrade and, at least while I lived there, was not what I considereda significant extra expense.

To me, this is a nonissue and complainning about it is nitpicking.

She sailed from the US to Spain last month to protest the carbon footprint of flying.  But an expert level sailor flew from England to the US to help navigate/operate the boat.  Meaning the exact same carbon footprint was used when it came to flying, plus the boat used diesel in the travels so by sailing she actually created a larger footprint than if she had just flown.
