I remember him from way back at Second City TV, watching it when we could on a grainy little TV with rabbit ears when we went to visit my cousins who could actually pull in more than two stations.

He did a lot of great work.

Not sure what he wrote specifically on SCTV, but he was head writer for a while. Such a damned funny show:

Rip. Grew up on GB. Had action figures. Toys. The car. My own proton pack.

She's much more interested in my epididymus.

Same here. Had every toy that came out, the car, the helicopter. Had the whole costume complete with the proton pack and the trap. I remember you stepped down on the pad and the air would push open the doors on the trap.

This post gave me Jr. High flashbacks!  I even had the lunchbox (metal, with a latch that busted after a couple of months..the way God intended.)

The 80's would not have been as awesome as they were without Harold Ramis' movies.

SCTV......you must be old, like me.

It was on a UHF station that barely came in and we'd watch it Friday night IF the weather was good.

He made me laugh a lot throughout his career. Even his later bit parts, like as as Seth Rogen's dad in "Knocked Up".

"Dad, you said that everything would be ok and it's not.."

"Son, I love you, but I've been married three times.... Why would you listen to me??"

Every time one of these guys who I grew up watching dies, I feel like I am confronted with my own mortality.  He was in his prime in the 80's and that doesn't even feel like that long ago.

Roll on the floor laughing.  That is what I did in many movie theaters laughing at Harold Ramis' work.  I checked IMDB, I think I have seen everything but the Meatballs sequels.  Say hi to the Johns for us Mr. Ramis.
