With the prevalence of high capacity micro 9s and CCW, have full size handguns become obsolete?

Nope

Full size guns are easier to shoot well.

S15 mags aren't too bad if you buy 10 ($360), I almost regret all the money I spent on G17 mags over the last year.

What in the blue-painted Hell are you blathering about? Did you hit your head? Full-sized pistols are here to stay, period.

They make a nice truck console gun.

[#9]
Of course not. To me it's not just a question of capacity. As I get older the smaller guns are harder to shoot.

I have no reason to stop carrying my G19.

[#10]
Maybe specific full sized guns for CCW but that's not the entire handgun market. Lot of people just want a fun range toy, or for competition, or for just shooting cans while camping. I find a full size version much more pleasurable to shoot in just about every model.

Nope. The fatties just don't care for them much. IWB digs into their bellies.

A G17 isn't all that big.  P226, a little bigger, really isn't all that big.

You may as well throw in the 228 and 19 into the 'full size' corral too.

[#15]
Hell no. I'll take a G17 with a +5 extension all day long over a P365/Hellcat/Shield/G48.

Man, I hate that he's looking rough.

that being said. My G34 is my go to pistol

EDIT: I'm confused, there was a pic of Clint Smith before in OP, did he say that?

I shoot my xds just as well as the g34 or g22

All of your full-size handguns are completely obsolete and people will laugh at you for owning one.

You can avoid this by sending your old, obsolete handgun to me for proper disposal.

I’m really starting to think so, I’m considering selling my G17s and buying another 43x and a bunch more Shield mags

Fuck no.  My SAO P226 Legion is one of my prized possessions.  There are many more that i still want and if ammo ever comes back I’ll try to get some of them.

Nah. I'd bet most handguns aren't ever carried, and you can conceal a full-size. It takes a little more work, but it can be done.

I keep meaning to buy a compact pistol to try one out, but just end up buying another steel frame full-size gun.

The only compact pistols I own are ancient .32s and .380s.

In the last half year I've purchased over 50 Glock mags and about 150 AR mags; I haven't opened a single one yet.

Only handgun I own that is not “full size” is a Glock 19 and it’s dam close by the micro pistol standards we have today.

Nope.  But what is full sized?  To a 1911 guy like me, it a 5" barreled gun, even in 9mm is full sized.  Maybe a Commander length like the 2011 Staccato.
I don't do micro guns except as back ups.

They’re not.

But I enjoy shooting/shoot it better than larger guns.

I carry a Glock 20 when I am hiking and a Glock 21 when I’m not

The only time I carry the Glock 19 is when I’m wearing tight fitting clothes

For you. I qualify w a G26 and they shake their heads at my upper 90s scores while they struggle. I shoot it better than my G17. Ergonomics. Look it up.

It technology isn't at least 100 years old, I won't use it. So, 1911A1's and Mauser rifles.

I feel the same way about my DA/SA 226 Legion.

And yet I still want a Shadow 2 and Wilson Combat or LTT 92...

I have a 365XL that amazes me in its size and capabilities, but it is nothing when compared to shooting the full size 226.

Also, they obviously haven't, because they'll still be in regular use in 2071.

No.   The 4" to 5" semi Auto "Duty Gun" is the softer shooting and more accurate.
