[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Have you ever been somewhere and you sensed pure evil? Serious question (Page 3 of 9)

Barbados, about 15 years ago. Was looking for a well known heavy wave on the west side. Stop at a corner grocery store and ask about it and they tell me there's access down the road and that there's an old abandoned prison that serves as a landmark of sorts. Area was mostly just open fields, tire tracks through the grass going different ways so I follow one set. I get to these cliffs overlooking the ocean and I see the wave to the north but no access down to the beach. I walk north and south to look for a trail but no luck. I'm staring at the wave and out of the corner of my eye I see something moving very fast about 30 yards to my right. I lock on and it's a monkey headed straight for the cliff just hauling ass like it's being chased. The cliffs aren't a straight drop off but it's very steep and thick with vegetation. I'm wondering what the hell got into that monkey and I can't come up with a good answer. I decide to bail and I miss the tracks I took in and I end up by the old prison I was told about. I get out thinking I'll walk around but the feeling in the pit of my stomach was pure dread and my brain was going off like a collection of fire alarms. The stench in the air was unbearable and I saw and heard no signs of life, I just had the worst feeling. I got back in the car, found where I took the wrong turn, and got the hell out of there. Later scoped out another spot and saw what looked like some drug smugglers in a small boat unloading bundles to a crew down the beach from me, lol. Barbados is definitely haunted. |

Yes I have. Once in 1998 or 99 riding the trolley in San Diego. I was 18 or 19 in the Navy and this older guy started talking to be out of the blue. I was 5 '10" and about 185, decent shape and carrying a BM Nimravus. This guy was late 40's, shorter than me, with a gut. Not an intimidating guy. He could tell I was mil and mentioned he volunteered at this off base rec center a non-profit set up for military guys. He kept trying to get me to get off at his stop and go to it with him. I told him no immediately and repeatedly. I felt a weird, creepy vibe from him and it quickly became more intense. He kept at it for a few stops until he had to get off. By then, I felt an immense pressure on me and every alarm in my brain was going off. I could hear the blood pumping in my ears. Once the doors closed and the trolley pulled away from the his stop, the feeling went away. I'm 3rd gen Navy so my dad had educated this dumb country boy about the ways of the world and the predators in it. Before the Navy, I had been out numbered in fights, been in bad car accidents, seen a kid drowning, almost capsized a raft white water rafting at 14 or 15. After the Navy, I was in the infantry and spent several years in Iraq and Afghanistan. I've been shot at by small arms, rockets, mortars and RPGs. Looked down and realized there was an old russian land mine a foot from me and there were probably more I couldn't see. Had to carry my child into the ER a few times. No other experience has triggered a fear or alarm like that incident. Not once. I don't believe in the paranormal, UFOs, bigfoot or any of that. I do believe there is evil in this world and it walks among us. |

Yeah, one time in a house full of fundy religious people. Interesting thing about believing you are saved, lot of them then assume they will never be wrong about anything (because why would god do that to them) and all their thoughts and assumptions and therefore their actions must be correct. They surrender their lives to God and become his instrument, which permits a lot of fucked up behavior. Not on the same level as guys flying planes full of innocent people into the WTC, but similar patterns of reasoning and rejecting responsibility for what they do or might do. They were all a long way from living a moral life as an example to others. The "free will doesn't exist" / "this is all gods plan" are the only ones who are scarier. |

One day I was walking my uncle dog, she was an old female golden retriever that would never bark or growl ever. We were walking in the contra side at the edge of a forest. At a point, a old woman, that looked kinda Gypsy came out of the woods. The dog went absolutely nuts. Not because it was surprised of shocked by her appararing suddenly. We could hear and see her from a long way. No. The dog went absolutely nuts and crazy scared of that person. She would growl, bark, and try to run away like crazy. I don’t know what was going on, what the dog could feel, sense or even smell, but that made me feel very uncomfortable |

Quoted: Oakland and East Palo Alto. Really bad vibes. Both places had bullet holes in the structures. I lived in a house in Eastern Oregon that was definitely haunted. Weird stuff happened. And it had that evil feeling from the moment we moved in. |
|
Quoted: When I was about for or five I was taking an afternoon nap in my parents room. I woke up and felt a "presence" in the room that was squeezing the life from my body. I looked up at the ceiling where the wall met the corner and felt it was coming from that area. I was gasping for breath and could just barely cry out for my mother and after what seemed like an eternity she opened the door and the "thing or presence" was gone. Weird that I haven't thought about that in many, many years. I had the same experience |
|
Quoted: Yes. I hope to never see and feel it again. The presence of evil will physically dim the lights in front of your eyes and weigh on your body. This. Hasn’t happened many times thankfully but the few it has is unforgettable. Like said already I gave myself to the Lord so not much more I can do. |
|
Quoted: I went to a Tilted Kilt restaurant with a friend several years ago and felt a VERY strong presence of something evil there. No, it wasn't because the waitresses were in short skits and this isn't a parody. Something felt seriously evil. I'm not sure what it was. Once we left the restaurant the feeling ceased. I'm not a medium or anything like that. I have come across evil people as a LEO, but this was different and much stronger. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Behind my house is a former superfund site that was once a landfill. While there is still activity back there from some environmental agency that monitors the ground water, it's all overgrown with vegetation. It definitely gives off a creepy vibe compared to the surrounding area and given that there are all kinds of rumors about Philly mob activity up here for various things like med-waste dumping, I would not at all be surprised to find out there were bodies dumped back there at one point. |

Have always been sensitive to " things". Got into paranormal/ghost hunting for a few years. More of a debunking mindset from my end as I'm just wired as a troubleshooting type vs my buddy who was the confrontational type of investigator.. We were scouting out a semi abandoned graveyard.small place...maybe 3 acres..kind of place with homemade gravestones etc. I was 40 to 50 yards from my buddy. I got physically ill....and over run with fear sadness, depression and helplessness all at once....started walking away...maybe 30ft or so it started to fade. Never have been back lol. All the stuff I've seen, felt and sensed...that was by far the craziest thing I've felt. It also seemed when I was at my height of being Christian that I would run into the " eyes like a doll" type of random that gave off that vibe that they were empty shells consumed by something evil. |

A small town of Atlantic IA and we looked at a house on the outskirts of town. It was a bit older place up in the hills overlooking a river. The place was some sort of retreat or boarding house for Catholic Priests that also housed young boys. Place creeped me out like no other. I kept telling my wife i felt lots of bad things happened there. Fought the feeling and finished the tour of the house but was happy to walk away from there. There was one room in particular that reminded me of a dungeon of sort. A place of tortured souls. ETA I once visited an old Rissian gulag in Lithuania that put off bad vibes, but nothing like this place. |

I went to my dad’s ranch in the middle of nowhere to propose to my wife. After the proposal, we planned to stay the night there. As the sun was going down, I got this sense that we shouldn’t stay that night and that we should leave. I had the feeling that something or someone malignant was watching us. My now-fiancée agreed, and we packed our belongings and left. As we pulled onto the main road heading back towards town, I pulled over for a second for a reason I can’t now remember. But once I did, all the sudden the F-150 began rocking violently from side to side, as if some immensely strong being was pushing it. My fiancée began screaming and I threw the truck into gear and floored it. It’s one of those experiences we have both tried to explain but have failed to do so. It sends chills down my spine just recalling it. I didn’t realize this at the time, but I know this now: For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. -Ephesians 6:12 After I became a Christian, I had one of those experiences where some malignant force began to paralyze and strangle me and I couldn’t move, and the only thing that made it stop was rebuking whatever it was in the name of Jesus. I’m generally a very skeptical person about the veracity of these kinds of things, but those two experiences stick out in my mind. |

When I lived at one particular location as a kid it was a former dairy farm defunct since the previous owner died and Dad bought the place to let us kids have room to run. The milking part of the barn always put off very bad energy. Even on bright, sunny days with lots of sunlight in there I always had ominous feelings passing through it. Something was just "off" about that space. |

Quoted: Can confirm. The feeling standing in the gas chamber is not easily described, nor is going through the gate and reading the sign "arbeit macht frei." Visiting Munich in '05, I decided to take a trip to Dachau. Wandering away from the tour I found myself, alone, in what is left of the gas chamber/crematorium. I'm glad I got to experience what, for me, is likely a once in a lifetime trip but, I will never, ever go back. |

I was down at a trash dump shooting rats with my .22 one day. I was 18 years old, senior in high school, nice sunny afternoon after school in the fall of 1974. This old heavy set guy (looked kind of like uncle fester from the Addams Family) and his scraggly skinny dirty looking woman (found out later she was his wife) came walking up the road and she was carrying a bag or two of groceries. I stopped shooting before they got to me and intended to wait till they got past me. He stops (so did she, back behind him where she was walking) and says, "That's a nice rifle. Let me see it," while holding out his hand. I was sort of shocked and didn't react. He repeated his demand to hand him my rifle. I backed up a couple steps farther and told him no. He shook his hand and repeated his demand in a louder voice and I told him know again. He started to walk towards me and I gripped the rifle tighter in both hands and sort of pointed it in his direction. He stopped and again told me to hand him my rifle. I told him there was no way he was going to get my rifle. We stood looking at each other a short bit longer and he turned back towards his wife and told her to "come on." They walked on past me and out of sight around the curve in the road. I turned around and headed the other way back towards my grandma's house. When I described him to my grandma I learned who he was and what a sorry piece of shit he was. He beat his wife and kids regularly. He raped his daughter and she had his baby. He burned down empty houses in the area and would wait on the volunteer fire department with his shotgun to keep them from putting the fires out. By the time the deputies got there to arrest him the house was burned down. They'd take him to jail and in a few days he'd be home to do it all again. I'm pretty sure I'd have shot him with that old .22 if he'd kept coming at me. It's the only time in my life when I was face to face with something that just felt wrong/evil and I knew it without a doubt. |

Quoted: A rental house my family lived in for a short time when I was in high school freaked me the fuck out a couple times. When vacationing in the states that summer the house was on Unsolved Mysteries. The Husband had been missing for a year and the Wife fled to the West Coast. They never found a body but the house always had a dead rat smell to us. Never could sleep well there after that! https://share.google/j2gdXURWD9tKKYxst |
Interesting that I just watched this video before checking ARFcom.![]() Rise of crisis pregnancy centers highlights shift in anti-abortion movement Fascinating to me to watch women talk with glee about ending their own children. The last 30 seconds could be the same evil you felt in a restaurant using sexualized girls to sell food. You shall not die...but your eyes will be open...you will know ! |

I can’t recall a time I felt “evil” from just being at a place. Some places I’ve been certainly emit sorrow and despair. Some people I encounter feel “off” though. When I worked on a college campus, every time I’d see some weird fuck in a trench coat on a warm spring day and anime pins on his backpack, I’d suddenly get uneasy but grateful that CCW was legal on this campus and I got a fighting chance if one of them decides to live out their manifesto; unless they’re a suicide bomber, then I’m just screwed.

Yep. Was at a Subway after dark with my wife. Just us and the clerk at the checkout. I literally felt something coming. I look towards the windows in the direction where I felt this thing. Within a couple seconds here came a man walking by. We looked at each other for a second and he kept on walking. Guess he felt my intention too. I was carrying and would have shot him if he tried anything. There is some kind of sixth sense. There was not doubt in my mind even before I saw the guy. |

Yes, on a road trip across the country, at a gas station in the middle of nowhere in the New Mexico desert. Was waiting in line for a pump, old run down station with only two pump islands that were all taken. I pulled in behind one of the cars to wait. One of the cars was parked weird at the pump and was a sort of new Ford Escape but it was a cobbled together mess of different colored panels, most bent. The guy who walked out to it stopped in front of us on the way to it and gave a stare through the windshield at us with what I'd say was extreme hatred, and he just stopped right in front of our bumper. Instant extremely strong evil vibes, shivers down spine and such. There was something very, very wrong about him. I had a HK45 holstered in the driver door pocket that I drew with my left hand, kept it low, and reversed out and left, all while he was still staring. It was the most bizarre feeling, absolutely would say it was the presence of pure evil. I had drawn once before on a meth head looking to rob me. The feeling here was completely different. Never felt anything like it. |

I cant recall any specific experiences. Here is a short film. Probably posted here before. Sorta fitting. ![]() Sci-Fi Short Film "Laboratory Conditions" | DUST | Starring Marisa Tomei & Minnie Driver |

The first home I bought, was an estate sale - prior owner was a biker type and died while sitting on the commode. For the several years we were there, I had numerous paranormal experiences, the worst of which was a dark, evil 'cloud' hovering over me as I cowered under my covers one night. Dude had a pool table in the living room which we sold. One night, falling asleep I heard a cue ball bouncing down the hallway toward my room. Imagine the sound of a hard ball on a wood floor. Bump, bump, bumpbumpbumpbump. We saw a 'ghost' float past the window - both looked at each other at the same time and said 'what was that?", I heard several times the toilet lid slamming down on the seat, only to go and find it was still in the up position. I've had feelings of evil in several other situations as well. I think some folks are mentally attuned to such experiences. |

Quoted: a few years ago driving through Cherokee, NC. felt like the hills have eyes. I was driving through Cherokee and stopped at a gas station for fuel and drinks. There was a teenage native girl in there that literally oozed evil. You could feel it. Creeped me out real bad. The other was my old hunting camp there was an area That just gave me a feeling of dread. I went through it once and just avoided it after that. It was weird. |

Quoted: Yes, a South Dakota Rez at dusk. Pure evil and hatred. I lived on another South Dakota Rez as a child for several years with my maternal grandmother, so somewhat understood Rez life. I have worked in Africa in multiple hot spots and the Rez was pure evil. Which one? |

Twice. One evening I walked out of the back door of a local pizza establishment to get some air. This is in a college town, the back of the store opened into a parking lot. Beside the building I was standing outside of there was a void large enough to park 2 cars. There was a white econobox parked in the spot next to the building, windows tinted, Illinois plates (wayyyy out of town), male in the passenger seat. As I tried to look through the tint to see who was in there, I felt a 100% assurance that he was there to kidnap a college girl. At the exact moment that my mind processed that, he put the car in drive and left. Like he knew that I knew. I'll never forget that 'knowing'. The second time my wife and I took our grandson to one of the massive arcades in a casino. All the noise and neon made the place feel like I was Alice in Wonderland on a mushroom trip. But the more I looked around, the more I noticed that blended in with all the young children running around, innocently feeding their dopamine receptors, were middle aged males. Playing children games alone, or tucked back into corners pretending not to watch. I didn't get the same level of 'knowing' that I did with the first experience, but there was a constant buzz of awareness that evil was around. It really made me wonder how there is not a constant stream of missing children reports centered around casinos with arcades. |

I'm glad I got to experience what, for me, is likely a once in a lifetime trip but, I will never, ever go back. when you were there did they still have the large photo on the stand in the corner of the gas chamber? showed how the room looked when the US army liberated the camp? Something like 200 bodies wedged up to the ceiling in the room. Like others have said I had the same cold quiet feeling walking through the gates. Its an odd place right in the suburbs surrounded by houses, schools and small shops. |

El Salvador in February of 2001. Was in a convoy of humanitarian supplies driving through a place where a massacre occurred in their civil war. The cross roads as at a place where there used to be houses but the buildings were reduced to just rubble. Grass. Rubble. Not a sound. No insects. No birds chirping. Just the wind. Place immediately gave me goosebumps and a feeling of being watched. We left pretty quickly. |

Quoted: Sleep paralysis. Shit suuuuuucks. Yup. I would get it pretty frequently when I was younger. Whispering voices in my ear was the most common even. Often times it would be stuff like footsteps coming up the stairs, shadow standing over you etc. It's very bizarre. |

Quoted: Yes, at the Stanley in CO. Wasnt in the places that were supposed to be haunted though. Was in the caretakers building. Walked into the twins room and the hair on the back of my neck immediately stood up and my anxiety kicked in. As soon as I left the room I relaxed. Nothing bad reported from that room. Wasnt one of the ‘haunted’ places they tried to sell us on. @BladedRonin My wife and I did a Shining tour earlier this year. Hit all 3; the Ahwahnee, the Timberline, and the Stanley. No weird vibes for us, though. |
