My dad’s.
I really don’t even understand it. 5- 20ga shotguns. All are basically the same gun but he will only use them for a specific purpose. 8- 12ga shotguns. Pretty much same as above. 5- bolt actions in the following: .25 wssm, 25-06, 7mm-08, 22-250, .270 wsm. A .38 special special. All of arfcom’s favorite .22s - nylon 66, 10-22, Henry Lots of overlap on everything but it’s his money. |

Over the years I have seen a few collections of guns I had zero interest in seeing. Some were at crime scenes, but the guns, themselves, were not the issue of the crime usually. Like another poster stated, the personality of the owner defines these collections. None are really gun people, get their gun knowledge from TV, movies or video games and are the shiny object type of people. I believe they thought it made them more macho or manly to have a whole bunch of guns. Quality was not the goal, quantity and the word "Magnum" were way more important.

I never go ewww. I am just pleased to see another gun owner. Not everyone can afford top shelf guns or has good tastes. I like my Taurus's by the way. reliable.

FUDD bolt actions in elephant killer calibers, with cheap optics, used to hunt whitetail deer at 50 yards or less.

I had a very well-off customer of mine show me his collection of AR's. He's making much more than me and know's I'm into guns and prepared me that I "was going to be jealous with what he was about to show me". He asked if I knew what Colt was and said 2 of them were Colts...
All 3 were crammed into the same 50" long soft rifle case, banging together and falling out because it couldn't zip all the way. One was unidentifiable trash with an 80% lower he did himself. He was proud of his "ghost gun". It had a UTG scope, plastic quadrail handguard, and a sig brace (it was a 16" rifle upper). The scope was mounted with 3 scope mounts, 2 were on the receiver and 1 on the handguard. He built it himself and I'm pretty sure he didn't have the correct barrel nut so the scope was the only thing holding the handguard on The second was a genuine Colt upper with only a front sight. The lower was purple and I'm afraid it was one of those plum plastic lowers. I didn't ask. He realized it didn't have sights when he was showing it to me in a really weird way (as if he had never noticed before but had shot it many times). The last was a Umarex 22 LR which he kept calling his Colt (I think it was branded "Colt" by Umarex). He gave me a big speech about how the 22 LR shot the same bullet as 5.56 and it was extremely similar except the 22 LR is as quiet as the 5.56 is when suppressed. Unfortunately this is probably what the gun store clerk told him to get him to buy the gun. If that wasn't bad enough, he once showed us all his Taurus 9mm that he keeps in this center console (referred to only as his "9 Em Em") while getting coffee at a drive through. The girl saw him flashing the gun around as she handed us our coffee and was terrified, it looked very much like he was about to rob her. He keeps that one loaded and loose in the console with all the other things you keep in your truck. |

Whatever floats someons boat. Their hobby, not mine. I really don't care one way or the other. Collect full automatic stuff, $10k custom guns, or $25 Saturday night specials. Don't care. Since I shoot at the house I really don't run into all that many peoples other firearms/collections. A few friends, not just people "I know".

For sale is a Tasco World Class 4-12x rifle scope. I have been impressed with the performance of this scope--I had put in on a $1000 Anschutz and it shot very good groups with that scope. I simply got tired of people asking, "Why do you have such a shitty scope on such a quality gun?" To which I would reply, "It actually does quite well, particularly for the money." The final straw was this asshole at the gun range who was giving me shit, calling my scope an "Assco" and my Anschutz an "Ass-shoots". Well hell, he had a Barska, so how could he be talking crap? So I asked him how he liked his BARFska, and then he got all pissed off. So finally I said, "Listen up dickweed, unless you want this Assco shoved up your ass sideways, you' best shut the hell up." Well, he gets all weird and goes "Merrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!" right in my face, so I put a gun in his face and asked, "How do you like looking down the barrel of a gun?" Well, he packed his shit but ended up turning me into the gun club and to make a long story short, I lost my membership to the club, all over a damned low cost scope. So I figured I'd better just buy a Leupold so as to prevent situations like this happening in the future, so that is why I am selling it. But it really is a good scope. Can email pics on request, serious offers only please.

Maybe you think they have a gun collection, and they just think they have a bunch of guns.

Quoted: The truth is most people don't actually shoot. There, I said it. View Quote True, but they're still relying on <2nd-tier guns as a tool for a potential life-and-death situation. My BIL and an ex-girlfriend both recently asked me for advice on what pistol they should get for personal defense. Both, completely ignored my advice, and ironically, bought $289 Jimenez JA Nines from the same shop within weeks of each other. The BIL has gone to the range once and put 50-rounds through it. He said he had to have the RSO help him with something regarding the gun. To the best of my knowledge, my ex-GF hasn't shot hers. |

I work with a retired Army Colonel, now working as a GS15. He prob makes over $250K a year and talks about his home defense pistol-a Taurus running ETS mags.
When I suggested something better, he said he couldn't justify the extra money because it works fine and he only shoots a couple times a year. He's thinking of getting a PSA AR next. Not to knock them too much (I have several) but that wouldn't be my only rifle if I was making that kind of money and couldn't troubleshoot it myself. |

Quoted: My FIL’s: S&W Sigma 9 Keltec PMR30 Tokarev Funny, he always complains how many jams he has when he goes to the range with them View Quote I'd take those over my FIL's. A Topper Model 88 20g A Taurus M85 And a Astra/FIE Model A27 in .25 ACP that he still insist is made by Beretta even though I've explained to him that Astra once made them for Colt; nothing to do with Beretta. But he's also a know-it-all who argued with me that Ruger is a Brazilian company. So... |

Been telling a friend that lives in kalifornia that he needs to buy some guns. Like for the last 20 years. He finally figured it out and started in. First gun was a m1 scout, second was a benefit shotgun. I really can't complain about it but he missed the boat for good guns.

I always try to guide and provide pointers without being a dick. Double risers... Vfg on a pump action that wont let it cycle far enough, the people I know with the pmr/cmr30?wetf it is, know they are just for fun. The worst offender I know for some of the odd stuff just collects for fun and still has a serious carry piece.

There's always a bushmaster/ S&W M&P/Budget PSA w/ an amazon light/laser and chinese red dot, some huge revolver that's never been shot and a Mossberg Chainsaw.

I usually ewww at the basic bitches that own the same shit as everyone else.

Yes. Very often. Typically of fudds and the people with 100 guns who never shoot.

I always laugh at the gun snobs who pay ridiculous money for mediocrity **cough** Daniel Defense.

What does a person's shooting habits have to do with the guns that they own? Do you equate more shooting to having better guns?

No. Just a couple guys who weren’t gun guys but hunters, even they had nice stuff. I remember a pump action Remington 30-06. Nice bolt action and scope in 270. Stuff like that.

No. I appreciate if other people have guns. Don't care what or how many. I appreciate it more if they get out and enjoy it and not just talk about it on the internet.

I cringe when I see guns in .40 s&w, 38 spl, 357 magnum, 30-30, 45-70, 350 legend, 22 magnum, and a few other cartridges.

Quoted: Quantity over quality collectors. View Quote I know a guy who has roughly 87 different 12 gauge shotguns. Side by sides, pumps, one or two semi autos. Each of them probably cost between $250 and $400. He expressed amazement that I would buy a scope that cost more than $1k. Meanwhile he has literally thousands of dollars worth of completely redundant walnut and steel. |

View Quote Lol my HK91 has a Bushnell 3x9 on it. At least it is on a B&T rail. ?? I only take it too the range when someone who has never shot one asks about it. The cheap scope makes it easier for them to hit steel 100plus yards out. I don't need the hundred mags I have for it but they were 99 cents a piece back in the day. So I keep them around. |

The worst offender I know for some of the odd stuff just collects for fun and still has a serious carry piece. View Quote That's kind of like my collection. My PMR and CMR30 are just range toys. My Wiselite SBR Sterling is fun, as is my HiPoint carbine converted to bullpup with an HTA stock. My Ruger SR22 is a blast as a suppressor host. All my AKs are just WASR, SAR, Draco (SBR'ed) except for my Saiga 12s which is generally considered "quality" in AK-world, but it only cost me $299 (not counting conversion) because I got on that during the salad days. None of this stuff is for CCW or my SHTF loadout. I've got several high end or very reliable/quality firearms in the stable. Colt AR, IWI Tavor, Glock, HK, nice pre-lock S&W revolvers. Good milsurps like my M1 Carbine, Swiss K31, 1873 Trapdoor, are just some of them. But collecting only top-teir, top-shelf firearms gets boring. Once those needs are met, what's next? Turns out I like oddball and different stuff for range fun. |

Quoted: Quantity over quality collectors. View Quote I had a friend like that. He just couldn’t save money for good guns. As soon as he had just enough money for a Hi-Point, Jennings or surplus Mosin-Nagant he couldn’t help but spend it. He once asked me how I was able to afford nice guns and I told him I decide what I want and start saving money and I save until I can afford to buy. I also start doing research to decide if what I want is worth the money and start looking for the deals. |

I have a weakness for projects. Eventually my mistakes will start looking like work, but I’m still getting inconsistent results at the moment.
One of the side effects of this is that I have gorgeous guns that turned out well resting next to basket cases and no apparent rhyme or reason between them. |

Instead of buying a Sport 2 for $700ish now they'll buy junk and slap it together. Complete retards. |
