So I'm getting back into burlesque. I bought to gowns to embellish and match to lingerie and I have some idea what to do, but I could really use the hive's help to make my routines really awesome.

I edited the title because I think y'all were taking the stripper thing too seriously. I meant it facetiously. I'm looking for unusual music that doesn't see much radio play, that goes in themed sets. Some girls will do kooky routines to 80's new wave, which I looooove, but so far, I'm more the prissy gown wearing pin up type.... so no AC/DC, lady gaga, or other popular stuff, I'm afraid, unless you can suggest 3 songs that go together and a theme.

eta 2: I appreciate the input, but I don't need actual "stripper" music. I need stuff for burlesque. No Motley Crue, no J Geils Band, there's no pole, no tipping, no champagne room.... this is the stuffy old burlesque that nice girls do.... pasties, props, live bands..... little or no pay...

I've used generic pics to give you a feel for the sets, I'll post pics of the actual costumes  as they come together, tamer ones here, naughtier ones in my old BOTD thread. I know arfcom hates strippers, but will you make an exception just for your snowbunny?

Audrey Hepburn inspired sophisticated set:

First song. Slow, reserved....
Sinatra's "the way you look tonight" aka "lovely"

Next, we get a little fiesty...
Tony Bennett "the best is yet to come" I need a better version, but you get the idea...

Third faster, sexier song to follow those two?

Sea nymph/mermaid set:

I thought maybe goofy, like Octopus' Garden? I heard a song once with ocean sounds that was really cool....

How about this. We start with whale song, fade into Enya's Caribbean Blue and as soon as everyone is ready vomit, boom! Drop Kick Murphies' "Shipping up to Boston". Does that work? What two songs do you follow that with? I can't keep up that pace, I have to do a slower song after DKM, then a faster third and last song, right? Bear in mind, that I'm taking off my clothes, so even if the song is less exciting than DKM, I'll be able to keep their attention.

Or do you have a different idea for a three song set or even just a couple of songs that would go for the mermaid/ocean theme?

Fire Set: costume undecided

There's Firestarter, Ring of Fire, what other songs can I fire dance and firebreathe to?

Oh, and here's pics as promised:

All right! This is working!:

Look up Nina Simone Feeling Good or Sinnerman

Michael Buble and Muse both have versions of Feeling Good if you want male vocals or a rock mix.

If you want drama, something about the sea as well as something no one is familiar with... I present Sigur Ros - Saeglopur.  It starts slow but builds to a climax.

Nina Simon's original version is much better than listening to some dude sing it. (If it was a transvestite show...then maybe....)

I know, right? The attention whores should totally be on the payroll!

But seriously guys, any songs that would go with my sets? I love the ones you've suggested, but they don't go with either set, really. Feel free to make up new sets and themes, if you like, it's just stand alone awesome songs don't really work for burlesque, they have to be part of a routine.

How about Kenny Loggins "Danger Zone" at the end ?

It's a fast paced song, everyone knows it and likes it, and the more you take off, the dangerous it gets !

OK- now that we got that out of the way -I can be serious.

How is burlesque different from plain-old stripping? Isn't it supposed to be old-fashioned glamour? Perhaps you should use music from the era.
