I'm still trying to find predictions and polls from before the 94 election, to compare it to this year.  Wondering if the Dems knew or had an inkling of what was coming.
Not finding much

No, they did'nt really...it was quite a shock to the whole country. It was referendum on Bill Clinton who then turned "moderate" after the dems got completely smoked. Obama is no Slick Willy..he has nothing in hs background that is remotely partisan or moderate. He is on the way out and he knows in his heart. Socialism will never work in America...this election is about Obama and the great thing is the polls are higher for Reps now than were then..by far.

Clinton took a poll to find out if he should wipe his ass with his left or right intern. He knew what was coming and any dem in the loop did too.

I don't think 0 knows how bad it's going to be, even though he knows he's gonna lose the house.

The mood of the country is far more pissed off today than in 94 who knows what's going to happen but it will be interesting.

And the republicans cut spending, shrank the size of government, increased personal liberties, and went bact to only doing what the Constitution authorized, and we all lived happily ever after untile those damn democrats took power again.

And the cycle repeats.......

So if this was not expected can you name me more than a couple mid-term elections where the president's party did not loose ground.  This is historically EXACTLY what happens at this time in a president's term.

Sure but they historically only lose about 10 seats since 1970..and this was the first time in 40 years that Dems lost control of the House..and were mauled by 52 losses in 1994.

There has NEVER been a loss of this magnitude since the late 1800's..so this was a bell weather against a President and not the congress.

Today/tomorrow is still going to be big..how big? More than 39 seats for sure.

And stopped Welfare as we had known it since Roosevelt,,the contract was not the 10 commandments but a blue print of what they wuld work on and they did that.

Hope and Change is Bull and is sh*t..the whole country knows that now and there will be enough new faces in the House to keep anything else from being shoved down our throats..maybe. This is a win for America.

The Repubs are more like lipstick lesbians, while the Dems are more of the Brokeback Mountain variety.

I remember it - and it was magnificent to see the sheer horror on the face of the newscasters - it was like they were reporting the death of their own family.

Liberal Journalists HATE it when Conservatives win - because that means LESS people will need handouts from the gov't.

The last two times Republicans took over the House or the Senate - the economy skyrocketted...

This time will be no different.

Republicans taking over the House are good for the economy, good for jobs, good for America.

But what we need to avoid are the RINOs getting the idea that this Conservative Revolution is about them and thinking that a growing economy means they can grow gov't spending again.

Tomorrow is going to be a GLORIOUS day!

I was rooting for Dole, but I wanted Clinton to go away a lot more than I wanted Dole in. Kinda like how I wanted Obama to not win a lot more than I wanted McCain to win. That really doesn't work well.

I don't remember but what was the balance of Repubs to Dems for the 94 election?  I think the difference now is that the Dems may have a bigger margin now so will take a greater election shift on election day for the Repubs to have a greater margin of power.

Still the Senate is gonna be iffy.   Even if the Repubs win that to it'll only be by one or two.   The RINOs will effectively affect that slight margin.

In 1948 the Dems gained 75 seats in the house.  Harry Truman called them the "do nothing" congress and made it stick.  This is one of the only advantages to growing old.

You can get excited about 2012 maybe...Republicans are going to clean house in Wisconsin this year though. Feingold is all but gone, and it's a very good possibility the 7th and 8th districts turn red. Doyle is finally on the outs, and Barrett has a snowballs chance...

I'm just worried about shenanigans at the polls...in some ways it's too easy to vote in this state.
